Deer Awards
Deer awards will be given this year as they were last year, at the Annual Banquet in January. Contact Lee Pereksta at (402)592-3856 if you have shot a buck or doe this year. Lee will score the bucks and an award will be presented at the Annual Banquet. Only club members are eligible for deer awards.

Please send any pictures you have of harvested game to Lee at hunterleep@cox.net so we can add them to our web site. There is only one picture on the web site so far, and it would be nice to let others know how we are doing as a club.

Big Buck Contest for 2011:
As we have in the past, Ahamo will have a big buck contest in 2011. As we did last year, the deer will be scored, counting all of the inches scored, with no deductions. This is not Pope and Young scoring, and is just for the Ahamo Big Buck award.

Anyone that wants their antlers scored this year should contact Lee Pereksta at hunterleep@cox.net, or at 592-3856. He will arrange to meet you at the range to score your antlers, or to do your scoring at a club meeting.

Note also, that Ahamo gives our members a very nice plaque when they harvest a deer, and each year after that plates for that plaque. It’s a nice item to hang on your wall, and is a place you can check to see how many deer you have harvested each year.

Below is a list of past Ahamo Big Buck winners kept from when we first started keeping track.

Water problems at the Indoor Range
We found mould in the restrooms at the indoor range and did some checking to find why it was there. There was a leak from above our range and the water was dripping between the walls causing the mould. We think the leak is stopped, but are unsure what to do. We may need to cut out some of our drywall and replace it.

To further complicate the issue, the de-humidifier is broken. We are looking for a replacement. We will need a commercial de-humidifier for the range. If anyone has a lead on a good used one, please contact one of the officers.

Officer Elections for 2012
If anyone is interested in running for officer positions, please contact a current board member. Nominations are open for offices. The election committee is Lee and Jennifer; email them if you are interested. President, Secretary, and a possible Sergeant in Arms (might need to take out of constitution) are known open positions. Sergeant in Arms will likely be eliminated as a position if no one is interested this year. The Sergeant in Arms maintains order at meetings and the position is not ‘paid’ with a free membership. Members at the September meeting were interested in eliminating this position. It will be eliminated from the constitution. Please try to talk Bart into accepting the President position again for next year.

Turkey Shoot - November 6
We have a Turkey shoot planned for Sunday, November 6 - at 9 a.m. at our indoor range. It will be a 300 round and we will be giving away turkeys, cornesh hens, or pot pies... depending on the numbe of shooters.

There will be a short work party Saturday, prior to the shoot. If you are avaialble, stop down to the indoor range Saturday afternoon and sweep, and straighten up the range. Since it's a 300 round, that should be all we need to do. Be sure to leave write your name down for attending a work party if you help clean up the range, and leave it on some paper on the desk at the range.

Wahoo is Coming
Our 2012 Wahoo shoot is not until March... but because of it's size and the amount of work and general coordination needed, we will start meeting to plan for it in November. Watch for information on that to be sent out. The meeting is for all members that want to attend. We usually meet at Lansky's near 36th street and HY 370.

FaceBook Page
If you are interest in becoming a friend of the Ahamo archery group, you will need to set up a free FaceBook account and search for the Ahamo site.

Ahamo Community Night
The Ahamo indoor range is open to the public on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. The purpose of this is to allow the shooting public the chance to try the range for a small fee and add to Ahamo recruitment. The charge for shooting is $8.

If you would like to help with this reoccurring event please contact Jeremy Smetana at 366-1324. Shooters under 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult.

Ahamo Beginners Night
Two Ahamo beginners nights are held on the first and third Wednesday of the month. The range is reserved on these nights from 7 to 9 p.m. for beginners. The cost is $8 and size is limited by the number of bows available for shooters.
