Key Dates to Remember
December 6 - Club Meeting, 7:00 Indoor Range
December 12 - Indoor 300 round turkey shoot
November Club Meeting The November meeting was held on Monday, November 1 with 10 members in attendance. We discussed the constitution update, the broadhead block targets, the November shoot, and 2011 nominations. We also voted in one new membership.
New Members There was one new member voted in at the November Meeting. Our newest member is Jason Buerman. Welcome to the Ahamo Archery Club.
New Ahamo Signs:
Just before the November meeting, Bart Witte replaced our old and weathered sign on the side of the building with a brand new one. Great job Bart, the sign looks great. Thanks also to those that came early to the meeting to help put up the sign. There were much more there than needed, so for most of us, we just supervised until the sign was put up.
Bart also had some no alcohol and no smoking signs made for the inside of the range. Thank you Bart for doing that.
Indoor Leagues
Indoor leagues ended up being a night for members to get together and shoot a score. It’s pretty relaxed with just a few members shooting on Thursday night’s.
If you’d like to participate, there’s no need to join the league. Just show up and shoot along with the members that are shooting them. It’s a great opportunity to socialize with members that are there, to discuss equipment and shooting form, and see how well you score on at 300 round.
Request for help:
I received this from David Teutsch this week: Hello my name is Dave Teutsch I am a club member. Was wondering if anybody knew of or had some deer hunting ground. I have been hunting a public ground for the last few years and this year there are so many new hunters out where I hunt I'm getting pushed out. So again was just wondering if anybody knew of or had some ground they might let me hunt that would be fantastic. I have tags in hands and will take does only if need be. I know this is late in the year but like I said when I go out to my stand another one has been put up.
If you could pass this on I would greatly appreciate it.
Mike Nickels had an impromptu work party just prior to the November Turkey shoot. The block targets were put up in their own area on the targets, and one section of the targets were rotated and tightened up. Thanks to those that were at the work party to do that.
A quick note about the block targets. They are primarily there for club members to check sights with broadheads. If you shoot at them, please do not shoot a ton of arrows each time you practice. We’d like the targets to last a while. Do most of your practice with field points and use the broadhead targets to check and adjust your sights with broadheads. One thing you can do is put a paper target on the block targets and move it around so you do not pound one spot on the blocks until it is worn out. You can also rotate and turn the targets to keep them from wearing out too quickly.
2010 Hunting News:
Any one that has shot a buck and wants it scored for our club big buck contest, bring it to the December club meeting to be measured. Even if you think it won’t win, it will at least give you an idea of your buck’s score, and it will be added to the newsletter.
I received information on harvested deer from some of our members (below). If you harvested any deer and your name is not in the list below, please let me know.
Hunters that are successful should let me know so I can get a record of what was harvested for club awards at our annual banquet.
Call me (Lee) at 592-3856, or email me at hunterleep@cox.net. Just give me your name and tell me what you harvested to get your name on the list.
If you have a picture of game that you have harvested, please send that to me by mail or by email. I’ll put your picture on our web site and in the newsletter and will add it to a 2010 club video that will be shown at our annual banquet.

Big Buck Contest
There is only one entry in the big buck contest so far. Mike Vandeman shot a 6x6 that scored 169 1/8.
Deer Pictures
Congratulations to Matt, Jenny, and to me… for the deer in the pictures below.
Annual Banquet News
Our annual Banquet will be on Saturday, January 8, at the Upstream Brewery at 170th and Center Street. Watch for more information on that in December. You will need to let me know if you will be there so we have a count for the restaurant. The food and company is always great for this event, so plan on attending if you are able.
2011 Club Officers
We have nominations for most of our 2011 club officers, and could use more if you would like to run. Just let me know if you would like to fill a position, or if you know someone you think would run, and would like to nominate.
It’s a very rewarding experience, supporting the club throughout the year. If you think you can make a difference in the club, and would like to take a hand in controlling what the club does throughout the year, this is a great opportunity to do that.
One position that is still open is Club Secretary. If you would like to do that, let me know. You can also contact Mike Nickels and he would be glad to discuss the responsibilities of that position with you.
December 12 Indoor Shoot
Ahamo will be hosting an indoor 300 round turkey shoot on December 12. Even if only a few people show up to shoot as did at our November shoot, it is a fun event.
As we did in November, there will be a work party at about 6:00 on December 11, to clean and straighten up the range, and possibly to rotate another section of cardboard. We will give away Turkeys and pot pies again, as we did at the November shoot.
The particulars of the shoot will be discussed at the December 6 Club meeting.
Club News Needed:
If you have a hunting picture or story, please send it to me, I’d like to put it in the newsletter. If you have an item for sale, send me the information to put in the newsletter as well.
Please email me anything you would like to add to the newsletter, or contact me for my mailing address. You can even give me your article at a club meeting.
November 13 Turkey Shoot:
There were 9 shooters at this shoot and all seemed to have a good time. We gave away turkeys to the adult and youth winners, and pot pies to everyone else. Future archers got medals for completing the shoot
