November Club Meeting The November meeting was held on November 2. There were 14 members in attendance. We discussed Indoor Leagues, the 2010 Wahoo Shoot, the shoot schedule for 2010, and voted in 2 new club memberships.
New Members We voted in two new memberships at the November meeting, Chris and Christie Christensen, and Michael and Jamie Kelly are our newest members; welcome to the Ahamo Archery Club.
Indoor Leagues:
Indoor leagues are now going on, and you can join in at any time. It’s a good place to interact with other members and discuss shooting equipment and form. People often ask if we give lessons. Well, other than the Joad program, leagues are the closest we do have to lessons. People can watch others shoot, and ask for help with tuning and form during leagues. The cost is very reasonable (I think we’re charging a buck only), and the camaraderie and learning is worth much more than that.
Annual Banquet:
It’s time to start thinking about our annual banquet. It will be on January 9 this year and is always a lot of fun. We hold it at the Upstream Brewery at 170th and Center, and the cost is reasonable, considering the buffet style of dinner with plenty to eat and the door prizes we have for those attending.
We also give away our annual awards, elect officers… and tell stories about hunting, members, and activities throughout the year. If I can get it put together again this year, there will be a video of many of our club activities from 2009.
Note also that dues are due for 2010 as of the Annual Banquet. We change the lock to the indoor range as of that date and members can exchange keys after paying their dues. For members that joined during 2009, your dues for 2010 will be pro-rated depending on when you joined the club. Your 2009 dues were for a full year, and your 2010 dues will be based on the month you joined. If you cannot make it to the annual banquet, you will need to contact Brent Simmerman to pay your dues and get your key; but not till after the banquet.
Watch for more news on the banquet in the December Newsletter.
Bowhunter Education Class:
We held a Bowhunter Education Class in October at the indoor range. Thanks to all of the members that helped with that. We had 17 students, and I think that all that helped put it on would agree that most of these students did need to take the class.
Upcoming Shoots:
There are a couple of shoots coming up you need to note. The first is our annual November Turkey Shoot. It’s an indoor 300 round with Turkeys or Cornish Game Hens, and possibly pumpkin pies given away as awards. The number of shooters determine what awards we will give out.
There is only one shooting line. It will be at 9am on Sunday the November 15. We can always use help during that shoot with line judging and registration. We didn’t schedule a formal work party for this shoot, as all we need to do is clean up the range before the shoot. If you want to help there, just stop by the indoor range on Friday and sweep or straighten up the range, and let Steve Williamson know so he can mark you down for a work party.
2010 Officers:
One more note about 2010 Officers. Let me know by email (hunterleep@cox.net) if you would consider running for an office, or even if you know someone that might consider it. You can also contact Steve Williamson to discuss the responsibilities and the amount of help you can expect after winning an office. Most of our officer positions are dues paid positions, so if you win one of those offices you will not need to pay 2010 dues.
2010 Shoot Schedule:
IMike Palm is our 2010 3D coordinator and attended the annual shoot schedule meeting with the other clubs in the area. We didn't get all of the dates we requested, but here is our club schedule that was set at the meeting. Note that 2 of the shoots weren’t mentioned last month; the Reinhart 100 and the Nebraska 100. Mike Vandeman had attended a planning session for these shoots but before we had made a commitment to participate, the dates were set and the shoots scheduled. Ahamo still needs more discussion on these shoots before we commit to our support for them.
Also, note that the Winter Games have moved up a week. Because of that, we may leave the range set-up after the February 7 3D and move some targets aside for leagues to shoot. The range would be locked up between those shoots, except for leagues.

2010 Wahoo Shoot:
Believe it or not, it’s time to start thinking about the 2010 Wahoo Shoot. Before the end of the year we need to send out our requests to manufacturers for door prizes, and we need to start our planning meetings already.
The best part about the planning meetings is just getting out with other club members to discuss past shoots and things we can do to make the next one better. Last year we had over 400 shooters, and we should go over the 400 mark again in 2010.
We usually meet at Lansky’s in Bellevue. Watch for an email or call from the calling committee shortly with information on the first meeting.
