The November meeting was held on the 3rd. There were 8 members in attendance. We discussed the 2009 shooting schedule, indoor leagues, the January club banquet, upcoming indoor shoots, and the 2009 Wahoo Shoot.
New Members
There were no new members voted in at the November meeting.
Indoor Leagues:
Indoor leagues are on Wednesday this year. If you would like to shoot on the league or just along with it from time to time, just be at the indoor range before 7:00 on any Wednesday.
Club Web Site News:
Our web site is officially up and running. Check it out at Ahamo.net. It has a brand new look and feel and is really easy to navigate through. It even has a club photo album for 2008 game, and newsletters can have pictures imbedded in it (see the September and October newsletters using the site, plus the current newsletter).
If you are currently getting the newsletter by mail and want to save the club some money please let me know and I’ll remove you from the snail mail list. There are only about 16 members left that get the newsletter by mail. With postage and copying costs, it currently costs me about 65 cents per copy to send out the newsletter. Those that still get the newsletter by mail are those that specifically asked me to send it that way because they are slightly internet challenged, or because the email address I have for them is returned to me as undeliverable.
Check out our site at Ahamo.net and send me an email through the ‘contact us’ page, or just send me an email at hunterleep@cox.net if you would like to just receive the web newsletter. I will then just send you a link to the site whenever I have an updated newsletter posted to it.
Wahoo 2009:
The first Wahoo Shoot meeting is scheduled for Tuesday November 18th at 7:00 at Lansky’s in Bellevue (36th and 370). If you can make it, this is where we begin our planning for our March 2009 shoot. Wahoo is our club’s premier shoot of the year. We get about 300 participants and this is what many people call a 'quality' 3D shoot. We even have attendees that plan vacations to visit relatives in the Omaha area so they can attend our shoot.
We have many door prizes, have Wahoo Set up like an outdoor shoot indoors. We have tree cutting workparties and several workparties the week of the shoot to set up and tear down the range. This is one shoot we need the help of all members for. It is a 2-day shoot, and we need members help not only setting up the shoot, but we have 2 shooting lines each day and need 6 people helping with registration for each of the lines, and that many again to run each of the shooting lines. We also need food committee help—and several of the wives pitch in to support that effort.
Needless to say, the shoot takes a lot of pre-planning. All members are invited to attend our Wahoo Meetings and we do get a pretty good attendance at those meetings. Note this date again, and watch for information on future meetings; Tuesday November 18th at 7pm. Be there a little early if you want to order something to eat. We will be meeting in the back room of the restaurant.
Annual Club Banquet:
Our annual club banquet will be at the Upstream Brewery at 170th and Center again this year. This is a must, if you want excellent food, a lot of fun meeting and talking to other members and their wives, and door prizes, awards, and other activities.
This is where we hand out big game awards, club service awards, and elect officers. The food will be a buffet and has been great the last couple of years, and we have enough door prizes that all members attending get something. My prize last year was a Therma Cell that I put to good use this past 3D and hunting season.
Mark this date down—January 10; and plan on attending the banquet. The December newsletter will have specifics on cost, time, and where to call to rsvp.
Next Year's Officers:
Some of our members have volunteered to run for an office next year, and a couple of others are thinking about running. If you would like to run for a position, please send me a note, or talk to one of the board members.
Club officers support the overall planning for club direction and activities, attend club meetings, and just plain fulfill the requirements for their position.
Because of the commitment required for those positions, our key officer positions are dues paid.
Club Deer Awards:
I have had a couple of calls from members so far and they are listed below. Congratulations to our successful hunters. If you look at our web site’s 2008 successful hunters photo album you will see some beautiful color pictures of all harvested game for 2008.
If you want to have your game pictures posted on our web site, please email me your pictures, or give them to me at a club meeting and I’ll get them scanned. I’m sure all members are proud of their harvested game and would like to share their success by having their pictures posted on our web site.
If your name isn’t below it is because you haven’t let me know that you have successfully harvested game. I have heard from others that some of our members may have shot game, but you need to let me know. Call me at 592-3856, or email me. My email address is hunterleep@cox.net.
