Fellow members,
As many of you know the summer event call the “Nebraska Challenge / N100” was held at the Branched Oaks State Park this past June. Our club was one of four who supplied 25 targets and the labor to set them for the shoot. The shoot itself drew 128 shooters for the two day event. While this number is lower than desired it was still a successful shoot. The choice of weekend being Fathers Day was an obstacle for some to attend and shoot, but there were still a great deal of positive comments that came from an improved course layout over the previous years R100 shoot. This event was a great opportunity to work with some of the other clubs in our area and build some positive relationships with their clubs members. Regardless to our involvement in the future to this event I would encourage you all to give it a chance and shoot it.

July Club Meeting June club meeting was held on July 11 with fourteen members in attendance. The 3D indoor tournament on July 30, a 3D target inventory, the open 3D coordinator position, an Ahamo Facebook page, the Ahamo community night were discussed, and Two Rivers update.
New Members One new member, William Lockhart, was voted into the club as a non-working member. He could not be present due to travel, but had been a member back in 2009.
Target Inventory and Indoor Range Improvements Discussion was held on weather the club should focus on replacing the backstops in the indoor range or buying new 3D targets and inserts. It was decided that the focus should be on replacing the indoor range backstops as broken arrows have been a large complaint and deterrent to membership. It was decided that higher-quality backstops should be purchased to decrease the amount of time and effort involved in backstop replacement.
Target types were discussed and interest was generated in the Spiderweb targets.Bart has priced targets at Full Draw. The plan is to replace the middle three backstops first.Funds generated from the Ahamo Community Night and the Ahamo/NAG beginner’s night will be used to generate funds for these improvements. If members are interested in donating money for target improvements, please contact Brent Simmerman 597-9497.The club is also in the process of selling the old pop-up target at the entry of the range to generate funds.
The first two of the spiderweb targets were installed on July 27.ABSOLUTELY NO BROADHEADS can be shot at these targets.
The 3D targets need to be inventoried to determine the need for new targets and inserts. This inventory will likely been started after the July 30 indoor 3D shoot.
3D Work Party for July 31 Shoot Setup for the July 31 shoot was 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 30.
Ahamo FaceBook Page Matt Pierce and Jenny Nunamaker have volunteered to begin an Ahamo Facebook page to increase awareness of the club.Matt and Jenny are members of the Ahamo club and own and operate Pierce Madness Archery in Plattsmouth, NE.The company specializes in custom bowstrings.Their facebook site is located at: www.facebook.com/PierceMadness.
Ahamo Community Night & Ahamo Beginners Night Interest has grown in the Ahamo Community night.Attendance has increased and Jeremy is beginning to see additional new people.
Jennifer Davis has worked with the online Meetup group, the Nebraska Adventure Group (NAG), to generate interest in the club from people new to the sport. She has held two sessions concurrent with the Ahamo Community Night on Tuesdays (July 12 and 19) and has received good feedback from those attending.Members of NAG RSVP online, meet Jennifer at given location, and then follow her to the range.Basic archery instruction, some background on equipment, and information of archery etiquette are provided.Guests are then instructed in how to shoot. The club Genesis bows are used in these event along with three of Jennifer’s own bows. The cost for this activity is $8 for non-members.Funds go toward target improvements. No children under 10 please.
The Ahamo Beginners Night will be moved from Tuesday nights to another night since interest has increased in the Ahamo Community Night.
Two Rivers Outdoor Range Update Bart and Ed attended a meeting concerning Two Rivers on July 20.Two Rivers wants outdoor targets that could be used by campers.Materials will be purchased by the park but needs to be set up by Ahamo. The area where the range would be located is flat and the site is just a little farther away that Ahamo’s last outdoor location.
