July Club Meeting The July meeting was held on July 12 with 12 members in attendance. We discussed how the Reinhart shoot in Lincoln went, planning for the July 18 outdoor 3D, and voted in 4 new memberships.
New Members There were four new memberships voted in at the July Meeting. Our newest members are Jay and Deana Smith, Tim and Gretchen Koziel, Jenny Nunamaker and Matt Pierce, and Shay and Kim Westbrook. Welcome to the Ahamo Archery Club.
Reinhart 100 3D Shoot:
The Reinhart 100 shoot was a great success. There were 413 shooters, and the four clubs putting the shoot on worked very well together. Several of our members helped set up on Thursday and Friday before the shoot, and we worked throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. Thank you all that helped for making this shoot such a success.
Below are some emails I received from Mike Vandeman and Mike Nickels after the shoot:
From Mike Nickels: Gentlemen, This was one of the best shoots I've shot at and worked at; an overall great experience. It was a pleasure working with all the other clubs. Set up and layout of the course was impressive to say the least and what was more impressive was the tear down. I'll just say it right now, I want Ahamo involved in this event next year and I'm sure many others will agree with me. Many thanks to all from Ahamo who assisted and attended this event. I can honestly say that there were no complaints throughout this event (well besides the heat). Regards, Mike
From Mike Vandeman, along with a thank you email from Danny Tubbs thanking all of the helpers that was just too long to add to the newsletter: Just a FYI, great job people who came to participate and help.
Newsletter Information
This is the first newsletter since May. There wasn’t a lot of news in June, and it was a very busy month for me, so I decided to skip a month newsletter wise.
June and July Outdoor 3D Shoots
The June shoot had 46 shooters. We found out though that we were competing with the Cornhusker games, plus it was extremely hot and buggy.
John Terfone did an outstanding job at the grill for that shoot, and those that shot had a great time.
The July Shoot was cooler, we weren't competing with any other shoots and was much better attendance wise. We had 83 shooters, and all seemed to have a great time. Plus, we had an extremely good turnout of workers for all of the workparty’s for that shoot. Set up had 16 helpers. We started at 8:00 and were done before 10:00.
We had plenty of help during the shoot and again the food was great—thanks John.
We also had a visit from the Sheik, who showed us how to keep cool on a hot day with thoughts of surfing.
We had about 20 helpers for tear down. We started at about 1:00 and were done by 2:30. When a lot of members show up, it makes it a lot easier and faster to get things done. We also had about 20 helpers on Monday night to tear down. It took about a half hour to unload each of the two trailers. Many thanks to all that helped at each of the workparties.
A special thanks to those who hauled trailers and brought their 4-wheelers to the work parties.
Hunting News
If you haven’t done this by now, you should be getting with your landowner and get your permission again to hunt this year.
If you hope to hunt the Gifford area, the Game and Parks Commission is taking applications between now and August 15. You need to purchase your deer permit first and write your permit number on the application.
At this point in time, if you will be hunting this year, you should be practicing on a regular basis and purchasing any new items you need for hunting season this year (sights, arrows, rests, stands, etc.) to be sure you set them up and practice with them well before the season starts.
Indoor Range News If you use the indoor range, please leave the de-humidifier on or turn it on if it is off.
We used to have a fairly large fan at the indoor range that isn’t there anymore. I suspect it died and was tossed. If you have a fan at home that you would like to donate, please bring it to the indoor range.
The indoor range isn’t air conditioned, but it is much cooler than it is outside and is pretty comfortable when the dehumidifier is on and a fan is moving the air around.
