January Club Meeting The January meeting was held during our annual banquet on January 9. There were over 60 members in attendance. We gave out awards, gave out door prizes, had a great meal, and a great time, and elected new board members. We also had a short business meeting and voted in one new membership.
New Members We voted in one new membership at the Annual Banquet. Our newest membership is David and Tammy Teutsch. Welcome to the Ahamo Archery Club.
Outgoing Board Members
Many thanks to the outgoing Board Members. I can’t say enough good things about those that served our club throughout 2009.
Steve Williamson has been our President for the past 4 years. That is the first time we have had a 4 term President. Steve has done so many good things for our club during his term, that it would take an entire newsletter to describe. Many thanks Steve.
Dick Sousa has been our Vice President for as many years, and was also a past President. Dick has coordinated all of our Wahoo tournaments, is on the calling committee with Ed Rebarich, has backed up Steve throughout the years, and has put in many hours at work parties and club functions. Thanks also to Tom Bockman, our outgoing Secretary, Mike Vandeman our outgoing Tournament Coordinator, Mike Nickels our outgoing Indoor Range Coordinator, and Steve Doty our NBBC Coordinator.
Other Thank You's
We also need to thank Bill Arledge for all of his work during the Nebraska Big Buck Classic, John Terfone for running our food Committee during 2009, and Mick Nickels for coordinating the rebuilding of our range backstops.
Also, we need to recognize Brent Simmerman, who has been our treasurer of many years. Brent has done an excellent job managing our club funds, paying our bills, and more...
There were also many other members that worked throughout the year that deserve our thanks. Dave Holthouse and Buck Knight for bringing their 4 wheelers out to our 3D shoots, Jesse Gonzalez for the use of his trailer throughout the year to haul trees and targets, Scott Specht for all of his help and the use of his big red truck during our Wahoo Shoot, Mike Stanner for letting us use his horse trailer during Wahoo, Mike Mace and Frank Jensen for the use of their trailers when we cut trees for Wahoo, Buck Knight for rebuilding our club trailer, Akiye Rebarich for organizing the Wahoo Food Committee, and Ed Rebarich for working with Dick Sousa on our calling committee, attending all of our meetings as our club Trustee, and for all of his help during club functions and work parties. Finally, thanks to Dick Glaseman for rekeying our lock at the indoor range and making all of our new keys. With all of the special thanks above, I must have forgotten someone—my apologies if I did.
Thanks also to all of our members that helped at work parties and shoots throughout the year. Without everyone’s help, our club would cease being a club.
2010 Board Members
Our 2010 Board Members are listed at the top of our Newsletter. Jerry Alexander is our new President, Ronnie Courvelle our new Vice President, Mike Nickels our new Secretary, Mike Palm our new 3D Coordinator, and Tom Bockman our new Indoor Range Coordinator.
Lost and Found
Jeff Adelman from Columbus lost his release at our State FITA in December. It's a red Carter Insatiable, the one with a finger loop. If anyone found it, please notify a club board member.
2010 Memberships
Now that it’s 2010 if you have not yet paid your 2010 dues, you are delinquent. The lock was changed just prior to our annual banquet and you need to pay your dues and turn in your old key to get a new key.
Contact Brent Simmerman if you have questions, or attend our next meeting to pay your dues and get a new key.
If you will not be rejoining, we still need your key back, We rekey the old keys to fit the new locks. You can turn in your key to a club member that can give it to a board member, or turn it in at one of our shoots.
Note that if you joined at anytime other than January of 2009, you paid full dues for 2009, and will pay pro-rated dues for 2010 .
Wahoo News
We have another Wahoo meeting scheduled for February 17th, 7:00 PM at Lansky’s in Bellevue (36th street and HY 370). All members are welcome to attend as we continue to make our final preparations for our club’s biggest event of the year. These meetings are not long, and it’s fun to discuss plans for our shoot over dinner.
It’s now time for me to start asking members for help with registration. I run it for our Wahoo Shoot, and need at least 5 people for each shooting line. Four people receive the registration sheets and fill out the score cards, and one person collects money. Registration also consists of Dave Holthouse taking care of all of the computer entry, and me assisting all of the registration helpers throughout the registration process. It’s pretty well organized, with each helper taking care of a specific set of items that are pretty well documented.
Here’s when I need help With Registration: Saturday March 20: 7:30 am—9:15 am Saturday March 20: 12:00 pm—2:15 pm Sunday March 21: 6:30 am—8:15 am Sunday March 21: 11:00 am—1:15 pm Sunday March 21: 2:30—4:00 to collect and sort cards
Please email me (hunterleep@cox.net ), or call (592-3856), or see me at a club meeting to sign up for one or more of those times.
As we get closer to Wahoo, there will be a number of work-parties held.
Here’s some dates to note: Saturday March 13—Tree Cutting, 8:00 am at 2-rivers. Wednesday March 17—Load Trailers, 5pm indoor range Thursday March 18—Set-up at Wahoo, all day Friday March 19—finish set-up, all morning Saturday March 20—help needed all day, Wahoo Sunday March 21—help needed all day, Wahoo Sunday March 21—tear down at wahoo, shortly after 2:30 Monday March 22—unload trailers, 5pm indoor range
Note that during the shoot, we need line judges for each shooting line. Line judges are spread out across the line, and they notify the tower using colored paddles, when lines are clear for the archers to start shooting or to pull arrows.
The food committee also needs some baked items for deserts. They need Brownies, Rice Crispy Treats, and fudge. If you can bring one or more of those items, or if you can help serve food, please contact Akiye Rebarich at 345-7608. Akiye may have her servers already lined up, but there may be some times that additional help will be needed .
Upcoming Shoots
Besides Wahoo, we have some other shoots to prepare for. On February 7 we have an indoor 3D at our range. The work party to set up will be at 1:00 on Saturday the 6th at the range. Registration for the shoot is from 8am to noon on Sunday, and tear down will start at about 2:00. As always—we need your help.
On February 13-14, we host the 3D part of the Winter Games. The workparty to set up is planned for Friday February 12, 5:00 pm at the indoor range. Note that we may decide to leave the range set up from the February 7 shoot. If we do that, then the range will need to be closed between shoots. We would open it though during the evenings, with designated members there to be sure that only the back-stops are shot at, and not the 3D targets. A decision on this will be made during the February club meeting.
