April Club Meeting
The April meeting was held on April 4 with 14 members in attendance.  Two new members were voted into the group.  Discussion at the meeting focused on ways to thank sponsors, working, and non-working members for their support of the Wahoo shoot; preparation for the April 17 outdoor 3D shoot; needed 3D target inventories; and the possibility of opening the range one night a week for the public.

New Members
Our newest members are Steve and Lisa Gewinner.  Welcome to the Ahamo Archery Club.

Important: Missing Equipment
An Ahamo member is missing a Handyman jack that was used during the Wahoo shoot setup and he would like is returned.  If you have any information regarding the missing jack, please email me at jennifer.p.davis@cox.net or Lee Pereksta at hunterleep@cox.net

Outdoor 3D Shoots
The April 17 3D shoot was planned to be the first outdoor shoot of the season, however the event was cancelled due in part to unsafe range conditions.
The next outdoor shoot is scheduled for Sunday, May 22 at the Ahamo outdoor range.  Bart and Ryan visited the range prior to the April meeting and flagged 40 shooting location.  Bart drew up maps for the two courses and presented them at the April meeting.  A few changes have been made in target location from last year to make access for the set up easier.
The support and leadership of Mike Palm will be missed this year and out thoughts and prayers go to him and his family.

Wahoo Supporters and Forms of Thanks
The 2011 Wahoo shoot had three main commercial supporters this year: the Wahoo Chamber of Commerce, Sheels, and Full Draw.  Plaques were given to these supporters for their financial assistance with the shoot.
Discussion was held on how to thank working and non-working members who continuously provide labor, time, and trailers year after year for the preparation of the Wahoo shoot.  Whatever type of thanks is given, it is essential that everyone who provides a high level of help is thanked and no one excluded.
Thanks again to all who donated their time, labor, and resources fo the Wahoo shoot this year.
Ahamo Community Night
Jeremy Smetana suggested opening the Ahamo indoor range to the outside community once a week.  The purpose of this would be to allow the shooting public the change to try the range for a small fee and add to Ahamo recruitment.  The charge for shooting would be $8 and it was suggested an advertisement could be posted on Craig's list.
Opening the range to the public presents some problems, however.  One issue raised is that wavers would need to be signed.  A member of Ahamo would need to be present during these nights.  Shooters under 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Outdoor Range
The search for a new outdoor range is still underway.  The possible need for a new outdoor range location was originally discussed at the March meeting.  The owners of the current range are facing financial hardship and it is likely the property will close or possibly exchange hands.
July 8 will be the last day to use the range for sure.  Shoots in April and May will continue to be held at this location, but after early July there is the possibility the club will need to have another location.
Members are encouraged to provide suggestions.  In the past, Ahamo has even had an outdoor range in a city park.  The current outdoor range is about 25 acres.

Food Profit at Wahoo
Although the Wahoo shoot was a sucess this year, the food profit was about $150 short compared with last year.  The reason for this is that food prices rose while the prices charged at the shoot were kept consistent with last year.
Indoor Range Maintenance
The cardboard backstops at the indoor range are in need of maintenance.  We will likely just need to reshuffle and restack the cardboard.  This will be discussed further at the April meeting.
Thanks to Bob Taylor and Jerry Smetana for beginning the backstop maintenance.
