Outdoor Range News
We discussed bringing the targets from the outdoor range back to the indoor range so we will have them for the indoor 3D's. We also need to get everything out of Bill Arledge's trailer that is at the range. There will be a work party at the outdoor range on Saturday October 18th beginning at 8:00. Bill Arledge will be coordinating it and will call Gary Brunberg to have the calling committee contact members. In Case you don't get your call; write this on your calendar now... After we get the targets from the shed and trailer, we will be bringing everything back to the indoor range.
Bill Lewis noted that all of the money we made from the door prizes at the last shoot was to go to the YMCA camp. We will use that money to build the shed that they had asked us to build for them to store their archery equipment near the outdoor target we built.
We do need to thank the door prize donors one more time for their donations for our shoot. Thank you to:

1997 Hunting Season News
To all members, please call me or send e-mail with your hunting experiences to add articles to the newsletter. I'll add as much as I can with the information you provide me. All information is welcome. Some of the news I have so far is second hand so I hope I got the news right:
Steve Murphy shot a nice 5x5 bull elk in Colorado. congratulations Steve. Jim Johnson fell while setting up his stand before the season got underway and hurt his knees. Wendy Humm got a finger stuck in a ladder stand as she was getting down and tore part of her finger tip off.
Our members don't seem to be faring too well with the new bonus tag season. As far as I know no one has been able to fill one of the early season bonus tags - Please let me know if there are any successes.
Indoor Range news
Indoor Leagues
Indoor leagues are now underway on Tuesdays. If you would like to shoot along for practice, just come down before 7:00 and you are welcome to shoot along (of course you will need to pay a fee for shooting along with the league; but you will get a new target and will get to shoot in a semi-competitive atmosphere).
Other News
We will be holding an indoor Tournament in November. The shoot will be a 300 round and is our annual 'Turkey Shoot' Tournament.
We were asked by the owner of the building to keep the back door to the range locked because the back steps lead directly to the main part of the building. There is a pad lock on it now, and if anyone does need to get into the back room, contact Ed or Mike.
Please help keep our indoor range clean. If you use the foam targets to check broadheads, please put them up against the walls when you are finished. If someone else has left them out, put them up. Also, a little general housekeeping would be helpful if you would like to help keep your range clean. Some of our members sweep the range when they get a chance - If you are there and it looks like it needs to be swept, please pick up a broom.
Big Buck Contest
Don't forget we have a Big Buck contest again this year. If anyone shoots a buck and wants to enter it, just bring the rack to the club meeting in November or December. Call Lee Pereksta if you want it measured and cannot make it to a club meeting. The measurements are not official - if you want to measure them for the record books you will need to wait for the prescribed drying period.
Also, please remember to call Ed Rebarich if you shoot any deer. Ed is keeping track of who in our club harvests a deer for the deer awards given at the January Banquet.
Work Party Commitments
If you want to see how you stand with your work party requirements for 1997, please give Ed Rebarich a call. He keeps a log of what has been turned in from work parties, and who went to our club meetings.
Changes to 1998 Commitments
We have been discussing how to change our membership requirements for 1998. If you have any ideas you would like us to consider, please write it down and give it to one of the board members (listed on the front of the newsletter). You can also send an E-mail through our club web page.
We know we need to make some changes to the way we handle work parties and requirements for next year but have not decided on what will work best for our club. Please let us know your thoughts, the more input we have the better the chance we might stumble in on something that will work for our club.
New Arrivals
Congratulations to two families in our Club that grew this past month. The Bill Lewis family and the Roy Canterbury family were both blessed with new arrivals.
Bill had a girl named Margaret Shannon that came into the world at 9 lb. 2 oz on September 23. Roy had a son born on September 21st that was 7 lb. 2 oz, named Jerry Ray. Congratulations again to Bill and Roy.
JOAD Children's League
A Junior Olympic Archery Development league will held again this year. This is an excellent opportunity to introduce your children to archery, or for children that have shot before to shoot with others. The league will be run by our club members. Dates and times have not been set for this league. Patty Pulsifer will be organizing the league and is looking for volunteers to help. If you would like to help Patty with the league, please call her at 455-4462.
