Sportsman's Quest
The following is from Bill Lewis:
This is to any workers that had anything to do with the tournament: First, let me thank everyone that participated in this event. We had over 600 competitors, over 300 practice course shooters, 80 pro/am entries and representatives from 35 states. I have received nothing but positive feedback on our group and the tournament as a whole. Thank you very much.
Club Policy on Hunting at the Outdoor Range
At the April club meeting we discussed hunting at the outdoor range. We voted on, and approved a policy stating that “Any Ahamo member hunting at the Outdoor range, or even being at the outdoor range when unauthorized to be there, will be terminated from the Ahamo Archery Club”. This is a pretty strong policy, but is in place to assure that we use the range only as it is intended - for our 3D shoots only.
Note that we should not even go to the range without prior authorization. Before we go out to the range we need to call and clear it with the owners. Please contact Bill Arledge, Jack or Dustin White, or Ed Rebarich if you have any questions on this.
The range is actually a YMCA Camp, unauthorized persons should not be there for the safety of the campers, and to assure no trespassers are at the camp at any time.
3D News
Jack and Dustin did an excellent job running the first shoot of the year. Thanks also go out to Bobbi Boze for organizing the food concessions, and to everyone that helped during the shoot.
The next shoot will be on May 23, with the workparty to set it up being on Saturday the 22nd at about 9:00. Please come out and help set up the shoot, and volunteer to help out during the shoot. Contact Bobbi Boze, or Jack or Dustin White if you can help with food, registration, as a range captain, or anywhere else during the shoot.
Thank you Ed Rebarich and Dick Glaseman for policing the range after the last shoot. There were many cigarette butts and other garbage left at the range that they picked up. Please, when you are at our 3D shoots, do not leave your cigarette buts on the range, and if you see any trash on the ground, pick it up while you are shooting. — Thank You —
Outdoor American Round League
Ahamo will hold an Outdoor American Round League at Mike Stanner’s house beginning Tuesday May 19th. If you would like to join this league, be at Mike’s house at about 6:30 on that Tuesday.
Mike’s address is: 11222 Kentucky Road in Papillion. His phone is 592-3308. Take Cedardale east, past 72nd to Kentucky Road and turn left.
The league will be a money league with a payback based on the number of points won each week. We will be shooting as one person teams and drawing for opponents each week. We are also shooting for money instead of trophies. There are four points possible each week and each point won is worth 50 cents. We did this last year and it was a lot of fun. Hope to see you out there.
Ahamo Bow Raffle:
Please get your tickets to Ed before the May 3D shoot. That is when we will be holding the drawing. Good luck to everyone that bought tickets, and thank you Dorothy Cubrich for donating that bow to the club. The bow is a Bear Compound First Strike XL bow.
More Outdoor shoot plans
Bill Arledge reported that there are plans being made to hold a league between Clubs. Golden Arrow and Ahamo members may be forming 4 man teams to shoot against each other, with the losers taking the winners out to dinner. Watch for more information on this in the future.
Youth Programs
If you are not participating in the JOAD league and would like to participate, please check with Bill Arledge. It will be moving outdoors shortly.
Women's Instructional League
The women's instructional league is still being held on Wednesdays. If you want to attend just stop down on Wednesday night at 7:00. The league has already started, but is structured so people can join at any time.
If you would like a club shirt, contact Dave Holthouse. When we get enough requests, he will place an order. Polo Shirts are $15.00 and T-Shirts are $9.00
Internet News
There are 19 Ahamo club members that are now on the internet list for our club. They receive the newsletter via the internet, and also notices of club functions and workparties instead of receiving phone calls. If you have not received any club news on the internet, please send me your Email address and I will add you to the Club Email list. Send me your address; my address is Hunterlee@msn.com.
After receiving the Club Newsletter over the Internet, you can let me know if you would like to receive the newsletter by internet, mail, or both.
Club Members tournament Scores
My apologies to Robbie Valeika for not mentioning how he did at the Iowa State Indoor Tournament this year. Robbie shot the first 60x 300 ever shot at this tournament and is now the State Champion for the State of Iowa. Congratulations Robbie.
Cardboard for the Indoor Range
At the last Club Meeting we unloaded enough cardboard to replace the cardboard at the range twice. Thank you Bill Rhoades for supplying the truck to haul it, and to everyone that helped unload it. The cardboard is already the correct size so we do not need to cut it. Watch for news of a workparty in the future to replace the cardboard.
Bathroom News
Ed fixed the men's toilet this past month. Thanks Ed. Thanks also to those that obeyed the sign not to use it while it was broken. For those of you that did not obey that sign - please be more courteous in the future.
