There was one new membership voted in at the club meeting, Byron and Bobbie Jo Mullen. Welcome to the Ahamo Archery Club.
Presidents Corner:
by Rick Krystof:
I hope this edition finds you all well and enjoying the cornucopia of bow activity in our local area!
Our 1st outdoor 3D of the year was quite successful especially when you consider there was another scheduled in Fremont for the same day. The weather was "PERFECT", just what we needed before the Summer temps move in. Hopefully "Mother Nature" will favor us with some more great weather at our 2nd outdoor 3D on Sunday, 5/15/05.
Remember, on Tuesday evenings ( about 6:00 PM ) at Mike Stanner's house, we have our American Round League. Last Tuesday was a perfect evening to shoot - dead calm - a great opportunity to fine tune those sight settings.
Mark your calendars....the 1st leg of the Ahamo Indoor "Poker Run" shoots is coming up on August 6th. (7:00PM) and August 7th. (9:00AM) the "Beat the Heat" 5 spot 360 shoot. Start building those poker hands for the BIG $$$$$$$ prizes!
Anyone interested in helping out on those matches please contact me. Till then, shoot well!
Club Finances:
At the start of the year things were a little tight for our club. However, due to the hard work of many at the Wahoo Shoot, the sponsorship money we received for Wahoo, the new members that have joined this year, and the success of our first outdoor 3D; things are much improved. The stage has been set for a successful year for Ahamo.
This doesn’t mean we can sit back and relax. We still need to watch our expenses, and work to make our remaining shoots this year successful.
Club Constitution:
Several of your club members have been meeting every other week to go over the club constitution and update it. We are very close to completing that update, and hope to be finished by the July meeting. It had been updated last in 1992, and who knows when before that. It still described the duties of the outdoor field coordinator (we haven't had a field range since we left the site at 36th and Cornhusker). It also had a description for a food and decorating committee, and it incorrectly described our dues structure.
If all goes well and we are complete by July, we will be reviewing it at that meeting and voting on the changes.
Newsletter Items:
If you are a club member and have an item for sale, send me the information to put in the newsletter.
I would also like to get some hunting, archery, or tuning tips from members. If you have a story or article to submit, I really would welcome that, and I’m sure our members would enjoy reading them. Please email me anything you would like to add to the newsletter, or contact me for my snail mail address. You can even give me your article at a club meeting. My Email address is: hunterlee@MSN.com
Outdoor League:
The outdoor league has started. Members. Members are invited to come out and join or just shoot along if there is room on the line.
We shoot an American Round, which is from 60, 50, and 40 yards at a 48 inch target. We are shooting at Mike Stanner’s house. All members are welcome. Come on out to shoot, it’s a lot of fun. We start at about 6:30 every Tuesday.
Mike’s address is: 11222 Kentucky Road in Papillion. His phone is 592-3308.
Next 3D Shoot:
Our next 3D will be on Sunday May 15th. There will be a workparty on the 14th starting at 8am to set up.
We decided at the last club meeting that we will allow club members to shoot immediately after set up if they would like to do that. This will be a great benefit for those of us that need to run the shoot throughout the day on Sunday.
Members will still need to pay (at member fees), and can turn in their cards.
If you would like to shoot on Saturday, note that we will not have official registration times. As soon as set-up is complete, we will take a short break, register for shooting, and then go through the course.
Poker Run:
Ahamo will be hosting a series of indoor shoots this year starting August 6th and 7th (Saturday and Sunday). The rules for this these shoots are as follows:
One Time “buy in” fee of $5.00 Shooters can “buy” only one card at each of the 6 matches for $2.00 per card (card will be in a sealed envelope with shooters signature across the flap and secured by club member. At the end of the 6th match (12/3 or 12/4), shooters will be given all their envelopes, will open all their envelopes, and make the best poker hand (5 cards maximum) possible.(according to Hoyle rules).
