May 5,6 Neola Shoot
The Neola shoot is over. About 115 people shot in the tournament even though it was a stormy weekend. Thanks go out to everyone that helped, especially those that set up the shoot in a downpour.
May 20th 3D
Our next 3D will be on May 20th. Work party team 1 will be responsible for that shoot. Set-up will be at 8:00 AM on the 19th. If you will be at the work party on Saturday and have a weed eater, please bring it out. There should be a lot of trimming to do before the shoot. We will also be needing people to man the registration table on Sunday. If you can help with registration, please contact Jim Chandler or Tom Riddle to let them know the timeframe you would be available on Sunday.
Outdoor Leagues
We will be starting our outdoor leagues on Tuesday, May 15 at about 6:30. We will be shooting an American Round, which is from 60, 50, and 40 yards. Mike Stanner will be letting us shoot in his yard again. Please come on out to shoot, it’s a lot of fun.
Mike’s address is: 11222 Kentucky Road in Papillion. His phone is 592-3308.

FAST – Future of Archery Sports Team
There are raffle tickets available for members to sell to support our club and the FAST shoot. Proceeds will be split between what is needed to run the tournament, the clubs supporting the shoot, and Camp Scholarships for kids.
Please contact Jim Chandler for tickets, or stop by Woods and Waters. Woods and Waters can give you tickets to sell also. If you can help by selling or by buying tickets, please do. We need the help of all of our members.
The Future of Archery Sports Team's mission is to educate, entertain, and provide support of archers throughout the industry. The F.A.S.T. organization is the Archery Dream Team introducing long-awaited programs directing money raised in competitions back into the sport, the competitors, and into the communities supporting them.
The Future of Archery Sports Team (FAST) is a non-profit educational scholarship fund. FAST provides youngsters with educational alternatives. We do this by funding scholarships to approved summer camps selected in coordination by parents of children receiving these awards. The Future of Archery Sports Team utilizes their preservation and joy of archery as their venue to help fund and provide these scholarships in hopes of giving children an alternative learning experience placing children in positive, encouraging, and educational environments.
The Future of Archery Sports Team scholarships are lottery drawn without regard to race, finance, religion or national origin. All recipients are placed in lottery by parents, friends and family. Scholarships for summer camps cover full tuition cost and for incurred travel expenses. In brief, The Future of Archery Sports Team gives many including the less fortunate children a chance and hope for the future.
Indoor Range Notes:
When you use the indoor range, please leave the fans running. All of the rain is making the range a little humid and we need to keep the air circulating.
State Outdoor Tournament
The State Outdoor Tournament will be on June 3 at the Golden Arrow outdoor range. It is being hosted by Woods and Waters. The shoot will consist of Field, Hunter, and Animal target rounds. These are a lot of fun. Distances vary by age categories, and for adults they range from 20 feet for the closest (and smallest) targets to 80 yards for the furthest (and largest) target.
You do not need to be a state member to shoot in this tournament, but you cannot shoot for state awards unless you are. Note that you can join the State Organization at the shoot, even if you do not join the National Organization. The membership fees are a lot lower than if you join the National Field Archery Association (NFAA). Note though, if you are not a member of the NFAA you cannot shoot in Sectional or National NFAA Tournaments.
Hunting Season News
It’s time to start thinking about the 2001 deer season. This year there have been some changes to the permit rules that you need to be aware of. First, there has been some changes to the bonus tag rules - with some areas allowing unlimited bonus permits. Some of the areas even have two deer permitted with the purchase of one permit. Note that bonus permits are for Doe only. You are still permitted to purchase 2 regular permits that allow you to shoot a buck or doe.
An additional change, is that Fontenelle Forest hunters will be allowed to shoot a Buck this year. A special requirement here, is that to shoot a buck, you need to have been involved in prior hunts at the Forest. The Fontenelle Forest hunt is a special season, with only a limited number of hunters permitted. Hunters also must have attended a special bowhunter education course and must pass a shooting qualifier.
YMCA News
The YMCA has requested that we help with two of their Camps this year. One will be from June 25th to June 29th, and the other from July 9 to July 13th. We have been asked to set up about 10 of our 3D targets and supervise kids that will be shooting at the targets from the hours of 12:00 to 1:30 each day. If you would be interested in helping out during any of those dates, please contact Jim Chandler. We will be setting up the targets the day before each week long camp starts, and will be needing members to go over safety rules and monitor the kids that will be shooting at the targets.
