March Club Meeting
There were 18 members at the March 7 meeting. We quickly got through our club business and jumped right to the Wahoo shoot. We went over the final planning and work party dates and confirmed trailers and workers. We also voted in 4 new memberships.
New members:
There were four new memberships voted in at the club meeting, Jerald and Diane Alexander, John and Janet Dueling, Bill Hoscheid Sr. , and Jim Johnson. Welcome all to the Ahamo Archery Club.
Presidents Corner:
by Rick Krystof:
We have some "League" action to report as to the final standings:
1st place: Rick Krystof & Harry Thompson 2nd place: Tom Saunders and Bill Hoscheid 3rd place: Ed Rebarich & Kit Secord2nd and 3rd place were separated by ONLY 1/2 point. Congratulations to all. Thanks to all who participated and hope to see you at our Fall "Poker Run" paper shoots. Come out and win some $$$$.
Now to the Wahoo shoot. What a sweet success. All the labor and planning that went into this event paid GREAT dividends this year. The attendance at our 2nd Annual Wahoo shoot was 150% of last years. The course layout was so realistic..... a hunter's dream! The shooting lines moved as smooth as silk while the lines at registration were kept to a minimum wait. The food and refreshments were "EXCELLENT" and a deal at twice the price.
I've received e-mails thanking us for putting on such a "class act" match. It is an enjoyable wonder to watch so many, involved in different responsibilities, tasks, and assignments, moving in unison and independently, to make this all come together. An unselfish donation of time and effort that warrants the highest praise and thanks. A sincere and heartfelt "THANK YOU" to each and EVERY one who helped. A special "THANK YOU" to Dick Sousa for chairing the Wahoo committee and making sure that all aspects of this event were carried to completion.(I think he should be made the "official Wahoo Chairperson") Be proud of your efforts because the people who attended had nothing but the highest praise for the event, how it ran, it's realism, the enjoyment they garnered, and how "welcome" they felt. These efforts laid the groundwork for the even greater success of the "3rd. Annual Wahoo Shoot" ........well,...maybe it's a "little" too soon to be thinking about that just yet.
Wahoo Update:
Like Rick, I can’t say enough good things about all that helped. A large event like this would be impossible to pull off without everyone working together like they did.
Many thanks go to Jesse Gonzalez, Jeff Schiernbeck, Rich Chandler, Dick Glaseman, and Steve Williamson for the use of their trailers during the many work parties. Thanks to Rick Krystof for running the raffle, getting Cabelas as a sponsor, and coordinating the effort to get all of the great door prizes from the manufactures, to Steve Murphy for coordinating line judges, to Bill Lewis and Steve Murphy for coordinating the range set-up, to Akiye Rebarich for coordinating the food and to all of the wives that helped prior to and during the shoot. Thanks to Bill Lewis and to Steve Williamson for working with Canfields. A special thanks also to Steve Williamson for doing such a great job with publicity, for hauling and setting up the pop-up targets, and for getting all of the great looking signs. More thanks go to John Terfone and Jimmy for painting all of the stakes, and to John for ordering and getting the new targets we used (the lion was great), and also for getting our score cards. I’d also like to thank Dave Holthouse for working all weekend long entering names and scores and printing results (I don’t know how we would have gotten the results out so quickly without Dave). Thanks also to everyone that worked as line judges, worked in registration, worked in the kitchen, attended coordination meetings, and for all of the help at work parties. A great big thank you goes to Dick Sousa for coordinating all of our meetings and making sure all the pieces of this complex effort came together. Finally, thanks to my wife Mary Lou for putting up with me and all of the stuff I had spread all over our floor getting ready for registration.
I know I must have forgotten someone to thank, I apologize if I did leave anyone out.
It was nice hearing comments throughout the weekend about how nice our shoot was and how well it was run. I even overheard someone say he was taking pictures to show the people back home what a quality shoot is like.
Club Constitution:
In 2004 we voted on changes to our dues structure, and this year we voted to have an Ahamo associate membership. At our last club meeting we discussed the issue that neither of these changes are in our club constitution. We are making significant changes and only have minutes or newsletters describing these changes.
At our next club meeting we will be looking for volunteers to form a committee to review our constitution and recommend changes to the board, and finally at a club meeting for membership approval. If you would like to participate on this committee please let a board member know, or be at the next meeting ready to volunteer.
Poker Run:
The Ahamo 2005 Poker Run is an idea we will be trying out this year. What is it you ask?
