June 7 Club Meeting News
Club Meeting highlights
The June meeting was attended by 15 members. We discussed a workparty for replacing the cardboard, 3D workparties, new targets for the outdoor league, and other miscellaneous topics. John Gregory won the incentive drawing for $15.00.
New Members
There were two new members voted in at the meeting. They were not present so they will not be mentioned until they pay their dues.
Key Dates to Remember
Tuesdays: American Round League June 17: Workparty to replace cardboard (6:30) June 26: 3D work party outdoor range (9:00) June 27: Outdoor 3D June 28: Last day to mail State Games Registration July 12: Club Meeting (7:00)
Cardboard to Be Replaced
There will be a workparty on June 17th at 6:30. That is this next Thursday. We need all the help we can get. This kind of workparty can go very fast if we get enough help. We will be removing the old cardboard and putting up the new cardboard. The new cardboard is already cut to size so we only need to replace it. This is the kind of workparty where there will be plenty for all to do, and it can be completed quickly if we get enough help. Please jot this date down and make it a point to be there.
Sportsman's Quest final note:
Many thanks Go out to Bill Lewis for coordinating the Sportsman's Quest. He did an outstanding job organizing this shoot. Several clubs came together to support this event, and Ahamo members are to be commended for their efforts. About a dozen members spent many hours throughout the event. A plaque was presented to Bill and to Ahamo from Cabellas in appreciation for hosting the shoot. This plaque will be put on display at the indoor range.
Club Policy on Hunting at the Outdoor Range:
This policy was mentioned in the last newsletter, and warrants mentioning again: At the April club meeting , we voted on, and approved a policy stating that: “Any Ahamo member hunting at the Outdoor range, or even being at the outdoor range when unauthorized to be there, will be terminated from the Ahamo Archery Club”. This is a pretty strong policy, but is in place to assure that we use the range only as it is intended - for our 3D shoots only
Note that we should not even go to the range without prior authorization. Before we go out to the range we need to call and clear it with the owners. Please contact Bill Arledge, Jack or Dustin White, or Ed Rebarich if you have any questions on this.
The range is actually a YMCA Camp, unauthorized persons should not be there for the safety of the campers, and to assure no trespassers are at the camp at any time.
3D News
Our Club bought 26 targets from the Sportsman's quest at a very good price. That was a nice benefit to our club for supporting that event.
Our next 3D shoot will be on June 27th. Please note that date and come out to help set up the shoot on Saturday the 26th starting at 9:00. Note that most of the targets were covered and left out, so the work party will be mostly to clean the range and position the targets and shooting steaks. If you have a gas weed eater, please bring it out to the range to help clean the shooting lanes and paths between targets.
We can always use more help with the food sales and registration. If you can help with this please volunteer. You can volunteer by contacting Jack or Dustin White or Bobbi Boze.
Outdoor American Round League
Six of our members have been shooting on Tuesdays at Mike Stanner's. There is still room for more if you want to shoot. It’s a good opportunity to tune up your outdoor skills before the Cornhusker Games - and it’s also a lot of fun. The cost is $4.00 for Club members ($5.00 for non-members). We draw for opponents each week and shoot one against one. The scores are handicapped and we pay back 50 cents for point won with 4 possible points per week. The payout will be at the end of the league. Shooting starts at 7:00.
Mike’s address is: 11222 Kentucky Road in Papillion. His phone is 592-3308. Take Cedardale east, past 72nd to Kentucky Road and turn left.
Hope to see you there.
Mike Stanner is a Grandpa:
Congratulations to Mike and Sharon Stanner. They are the proud grandparents of a new grandson (their first). The parents are Mike and Stacey Quick.
Ahamo Bow Raffle:
The winner of the bow was Chris Stoakes - Congratulations to Chris.
The Club Took in $349, and after deducting the cost of the raffle tickets, we made a profit of $269.50.
Thank You Dorothy Cubrich for donating the bow to the club.
Committee Needed:
A committee is needed to start reviewing club finances and rent. We need to review our financial position and develop a proposal for next year’s budget. We also want to develop a proposal for our future rent that is fair to the owner of the building and will keep the Club solvent. If you would like to participate in this committee, please contact Bill Arledge.
Youth Programs:
The Joad program will be shutting down until the Fall. Watch for information on this later this year.
Camp River Crest, a Church Camp in Freemont asked to borrow our youth bows and floor quivers. Ahamo loaned the equipment to the camp for their summer program.
Women's League:
The Women's League is now over. If there is enough interest it will start up again in the Fall.
Club Shirts and Hats
If you would like a club shirt, contact Dave Holthouse. When we get enough requests, he will place an order. Polo Shirts are $15.00 and T-Shirts are $9.00.
Bill Arledge also had some club hats made up. Dave Holthouse has these, and they really look nice. Contact Dave if you want one.
Hunting News
Club members that shot Turkeys this spring include Randy Benson and Jesus Gonzales. Both harvested large Turkeys the second week of May. - Congratulations -
Please let me know if you have harvested any spring game so I can put it in the newsletter.
Internet News
There are 19 Ahamo club members that are now on the internet list for our club. They receive the newsletter via the internet, and also notices of club functions and workparties instead of receiving phone calls. If you have not received any club news on the internet, please send me your Email address and I will add you to the Club Email list. Send me your address; my address is Hunterlee@msn.com.
After receiving the Club Newsletter over the Internet, you can let me know if you would like to receive the newsletter by internet, mail, or both.
Year 2000 Club Officers
Now is the time to start thinking about running for an office in the club for next year. Please consider running for an officers position and discuss it with a current board member if you have questions about that office.
