Key Dates to Remember
Tuesdays Outdoor Leagues (7:00) Aug 3 Club Meeting at 7:00, indoor range * A Game and Parks speaker, and a Hunters Feeding the Hungry speaker are scheduled for this meeting. Aug 8 Outdoor range workparty (Sat. 9am) Aug 9 State 3D at our range * You do not need to be a State Member to shoot in this tournament.
Open House Results
Thanks to all of the members that helped at the club open house. There was a good turnout at the workparty before the open house, and several members were present throughout the day of the open house. We did not get a large number of non-members attending but it was well worth the effort because all of this month’s new members attended the open house.
A side benefit of the open house is that the cardboard is now rotated and the range looks real good.
3D News
The July 4th and 5th 3D went very well in spite of the fact that there was a lot of rain on the 5th. Thanks to Mike Vandeman for organizing another good tournament. Many thanks also to Mikes wife Shelly and his daughters for cooking, and for running the food concessions at the shoot. There was a good turnout of members to set up the shoot as well - Thanks to all that helped. In addition, thanks to Dave Holthouse and Dustin White for bringing their 4 wheelers to the workparties. They really came in handy.
The Buffalo we purchased was delivered for this shoot. It was a nice addition to our targets.
Another addition to the shoot was the moving turkey target. Jack and Dustin White built it and ran it throughout the day; everyone that shot it had a real good time with it.
Because of the rain on Sunday, we decided to save many of the door prizes for the State 3D. We will also be holding off on our raffle until the State 3D.
Door Prize Thank you’s
Several local stores as well as some manufacturers gave us door prizes for our 3D rendezous. We can’t thank them enough for supporting our club.
Please support the stores and manufacturers that supported us; and when you purchase something from a local store be sure to mention that you are an Ahamo member so they know our members are shopping there.

State 3D at our Range
The State 3D will be at the outdoor range on Sunday August 9th. You do not need to be a State member to shoot in this tournament. The club will be allowing non state members to shoot for trophies at this shoot. However, you do need to be a state NFAA member to shoot for state awards. We will have membership applications available for anyone that wants to join the NFAA and compete for state awards.
Upcoming Workparties
Be ready for the following work party opportunities:
Aug 8, 9:00 - outdoor range - to set up for the 3D. Aug 9 - Call Mike Vandeman to volunteer for registration or food sales at this 3D tournament. Help is also needed to tear down Sunday afternoon. Date unknown - Mike Vandeman will be scheduling a workparty to clean the back room of the indoor range. This is needed before we store the 3D targets after the next shoot.
YMCA News
We discussed what else we could do to thank the YMCA for letting us use their facilities for our 3D shoots. We will be giving them 6 fiber glass bows and a half gross of arrows. Bill Arledge will help us get these.
Hunting Season News
Hunting Season will be here before you know it. Be sure to keep practicing, and remember we will be hosting a free Bowhunter tune up day at our indoor range on Sept. 5. We will be holding an open house at the range on this date also to promote our club.
CORNHUSKER STATE GAMES
If you haven’t registered yet - it’s too late. The State Games will be held July 18th and 19th. Hope to see several of our members there.
Outdoor American Round League
The Ahamo American Round league is being held on Tuesday night’s at Mike Stanner’s house. The leagues may end after the State Games are held so check with Mike after the 18th. Feel free to come out on any Tuesday before the 18th to practice for the State Games.
Plans For Our Next Club Meetings
Be sure to attend our next meeting. We will have speakers from the State Game and Parks and from Hunters Feeding the Hungry. Come out to see what is going on in both of those areas, and to ask any questions you may have regarding Game Laws, changes, or what Hunters Feeding the Hungry is.
Shooters School at our Range
We will be hosting a Shooters School at our range next year. Bill Arledge will be making contacts with an instructor to set this up. There will be a fee of about $150 involved, but for those of us that have never had some actual coaching and training on the technical aspects of shooting - it will definitely be worth it. Watch for more information in your newsletter later this year.
Club Shirts
We finally decided on a club shirt. The shirt will be blue, has a collar, and is a high quality Jersey shirt that will have our Ahamo logo embroidered on it. We need 24 shirts to be ordered before we can have them made up. The cost will be $15.00 and Bill Arledge will be taking the orders. A number of people made their orders at the July Club meeting and Bill will be ordering them as soon as he has enough orders; so give him a call if you want a shirt.
3D Results
There were almost 100 shooters at the July 4,5 3D shoot. Scores from that shoot follow.

Kamp For Kids
Ahamo loaned our JOAD equipment to the Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids that was held on June 6. The following was received thanking us for our support:
Dear Supporter:
Well, we did it. On June 6th, the Outdoor Adventure Kamp saw it’s inaugural event take place. We also feel that our camp was a huge success. There were no injuries, and all that participated had a great time. The kids were catching fish, shooting bows and arrows, and learning how to safely operate a BB gun. Most of these youth have never done any of these activities before, and they had a great time. Most of the youth were asking if we would be holding this same camp again next year. Given the success we had, we definitely plan on doing it again next summer.
One thing to remember is that this great event would not have been possible without the support that we received from you (Ahamo). The money, products, gifts, and support were paramount. Again, without it, we would not have been able to put on the camp. We hope that we will be able to raise enough funds and supplies to do the camp again next year, and we may be in touch early in 1999 to ask for your support. However if at all possible, we would like to be able to raise the money on our own.
Again, thanks for our support, as we could not have done it without you.
Respectfully,
Paul Milone
