January 4 Club Meeting News Club Meeting highlights The January meeting and Club Banquet was held at Mr. C's, and was attended by 48 members. We Introduced the new officers for 1997, approved the 1996 treasurer's report, voted in one new member, handed out club service awards and deer awards, and discussed some of our plans for 1997.
New Members There was one new member voted in this month, Paige Permenter. Paige was a member previously and is rejoining. Welcome back to the club Paige. 1997 Officers The 1997 club officers are listed above. Congratulations to all members that were nominated for 1997 club offices.
1997 Membership The lock to the indoor range has been changed. If you will not be rejoining this year please return your key to Dave Holthouse. To get a new key you need to pay your 1997 dues. If you have any questions about paying your dues and getting your new key, please call Dave (291-0211) If you have not yet paid your dues for 1997, you will receive this newsletter and one more in February. In March your Dues are considered delinquent and you will be required to pay an additional $10.00 initiation fee with your dues to keep your membership and receive a new key.
1997 Member Commitments The commitments for 1997 are now 12 hours of workparties and 3 club meetings. Be sure to sign in at all workparties and record the hours you worked. Membership applications will be modified shortly, to reflect the new commitment requirements for the working membership. 3D Committee news The 3D committee has been making plans for 1997 3D shoots. Planned shoots through March are as follows: Jan 18,19 Feb 8, 9 (State Winter Games) Feb 22,23 Mar 8,9 Mar 22,23 Workparties will be held on the Friday before each shoot at 7:00 P.M. and Sunday at about 3:30 when the shoots are finished. For the Jan 18, 19 shoot the 3D committee will be trying something a little different for children. The first line will be at 12:00 on Saturday and will be for children only. The distances will be shorter and will allow younger children a better chance to shoot and hit the targets. The Adult lines will be at 2:00, 4:00, 6:00 and 8:00 on Saturday and 8:00, 10:00, 12:00 and 2:00 on Sunday. Each line will handle 20 shooters. If you have any questions or want to register for a shooting line, call Roy Canterbury at 592-1398, or Bill Lewis at 498-9364.
State Winter Games The State Winter Games will have three Archery events; a target shoot at Woods and Waters, a Dart tournament at Full Draw, and an indoor 3D tournament at Ahamo. Bill Rhoades is coordinating the 3D part of the winter games and has 'drafted' several members to help, as well as the 3D committee. Advanced registration is required to participate in the Winter Games. Bill Rhoades will be receiving some registration booklets and will leave them at the indoor range as soon as he gets them. If you have not mailed in your registration by January 22, you will not be allowed to shoot in the games. Included for your registration fees will be a T Shirt, an invitation to the opening ceremonies at Aksarben, and the athletes party.
Outdoor Range Needed We lost our outdoor range. The 3D committee is looking for a place to hold our outdoor 3D shoots. If anyone knows of a possible location please call Roy Canterbury or Bill Lewis. February Target Tournament There will be an indoor 300 round Tournament at our range on Sunday February 2, 1997. Shooting Fees for Adults, Youth, and Cubs are $10, $8, and $6. Archers pre-registering and pre-paying will receive a $2 discount. Shooting times are 9:00 and 12:00.
State Meeting If anyone in the club will be in Kearney for the State indoor tournament on March 15 and 16, please let Mike Stanner know as soon as possible. 1996 Big Buck Contest There were three entries in the 1996 Big Buck contest. Gary Brunberg won with a rack that measured 129 3/8 and received a nice plaque - Congratulations Gary. Other Awards Several members received certificates at the banquet for outstanding service to the club in 1996. There were too many to accurately list them all, so I can only say thank you to all members that received a service award. Work Party Drawing All members attending workparties in 1996, had their names put in a drawing for each workparty they attended. The winners of the $30 awards (to pay for their deer license in 1997), were Steve Murphy, Bill Rhoades, Dick Glaseman, Rich Chandler, and Rob Humm. 1996 3D Committee Thanks Special Plaques were given to the three members that ran the 1996 3D committee; Bill Lewis, Dennis Duckert, and Santos Castaneda. Thank you all for a job well done, and a special thanks to all members that helped with our 3D shoots throughout the year.
