January Club Meeting
There were 10 members at the January meeting. We discussed the sportsmans show, the state indoor shoot, the Wahoo shoot, and the club banquet.
New members:
There was one new member voted in at the club meeting, Anthony Stalcup. Welcome to the Ahamo Archery Club.
2005 Dues:
If you have been to the indoor range this month and you did not rejoin the club, you probably found out that your key no longer works. You need to pay your dues and turn in your key to get a new key for 2005. Many thanks to Dick Glaseman for making the new keys and changing the lock.
If you do not rejoin, your dues become delinquent after the March meeting and you will need to pay your $10.00 initiation fee over again to rejoin. You will also receive a February newsletter and it will be your last one.
Note that our dues have increased and are now $120.00 per year for the working membership and $192.00 per year for the non-working membership.
Annual Club Banquet:
Our annual banquet was held on January 15 at Angies. The food was good and it was a lot of fun visiting with members and their spouses. We gave out awards, voted in new officers, and had a pretty good time.
Club Officers:
We voted in officers at the annual banquet. Rick Krystof is our new President and Steve Williamson is our new Secretary. In addition we have one open position; 3D Coordinator. All of the other officers remained in their current offices.
Many thanks to Dick Sousa for doing a great job as our President for 2004. Dick did super running our monthly meetings, helped us make the Wahoo Shoot a tremendous success in 2004, and led us through a successful 2004.
Thanks also to Chuck Vincent for being our 3D coordinator for 2004. Chuck did a fine job coordinating all of our shoots and always being there to help with registration, set-up and work parties. It will be difficult to find someone to fill that position for 2005.
3D Coordinator Wanted:
We currently have an opening for a 3D coordinator for 2005. We need someone that is willing to be at a majority of our shoots, someone to give direction to those of us that show up at work parties and say ‘what do I need to do’, and some one that is good at pre-planning so that our shoots are run as smoothly as possible. It is important to note that the Wahoo shoot is not the responsibility of the 3D coordinator. It has it’s own coordinator and many committees that help pull it off.
Club Awards:
The annual banquet included handing out awards to members.
Service awards are certificates given out to members that went above and beyond for our club in 2004. I did my best to write down the name of those receiving these awards. If I missed someone in the list below - it was unintentional. Service awards were given to:
Jean Holthouse Dave Holthouse Akaye Rebarich Ed Rebarich Ruth Williamson Steve Williamson Mary Lou Pereksta Lee Pereksta Sherry Terfone John Terfone Carol Rhoades Bill Rhoades Sharon Stanner Mike Stanner Rochell Glaseman Dick Glaseman Eva Chandler Rich Chandler Vonnie Sousa Jimmy Terfone Rick Krystof Aaron Pererson Chuck Vincent Dave Wise Greg Anania Melvin Butler Ken Butler Troy Saunders Dallas Crowder Brent Simmerman Jeff Schiernbeck Steve Murphy Bill Lewis Nick Tramp Jesus GonzalezAs I said above, I may have left someone off by accident - many thanks go out to all who supported our club throughout 2004. I did note that Dick Sousa left his own name off of the service award list. Dick, you deserve one of these also - thank you for all of your support throughout the year.
I would also like to add a special thank you to Sherry Terfone for helping with food at most of our shoots, and to John for organizing the food for all of our shoots and for all of the extra things he did (flyers, cutting rebar, organizing and inventorying targets, and helping run our shoots).
Member of the Year:
Each year, an outstanding member is selected for a special award. It was a tough decision this year, with some of our members really putting forth a lot of extra effort that was really appreciated throughout the year.
This year the member of the year award went to Steve Williamson. Steve did so much this year it’s difficult to remember it all. He built all of our bow racks for the Wahoo shoot, built score card holders for the Wahoo shoot, set-up and ran all of our pop-up shoots, let us use his compressor for the pop-up targets, donated a compressor to the club this year, and was always there when we needed him. I can’t think of any work parties that Steve did not attend. Thank you Steve for all of your support throughout the year. You were definitely our outstanding member this year.
Wahoo Shoot:
We had our last Wahoo meeting on January 10th. A lot is in the works so far. Canfields is still on board as our primary sponsor, Cabelas and Sheels are both very close to sponsoring part of the shoot, and we have a lot of door prizes starting to come in. We have places lined up to cut trees, score cards are being made, advertising is happening, and the Wahoo Chamber of Commerce has been contacted and will be helping where they can.
The next meeting will be held on January 24 (Monday) at Lansky's on L street again. Hope to see you there.
Deer Season News:
The final list of successful hunters is below. If you don’t find your name there and deserve to be, please let me know. Deer awards were given out at the club banquet and some of those that had awards coming were not there to receive them. If you have an award coming, please be at our February meeting to receive it.

Next 3D Shoot:
Our next 3D will be on Sunday January 23rd. The work party to set up will be on Saturday at 2:00. We had plenty of help for our last shoot, and will need it again for this one. Please come down on Saturday. Hunting Season is now over, so there are no excuses. Note that registration will be Sunday from 8 to noon, and tear down will start at about 1:30.
I will be there a little early on Saturday. Not that hunting season is over, I need to reset my sights for my field points and practice a little so I can shoot on Sunday. After the first two nights of leagues with my target bow, I found that I need all the practice I can get.
