New members:
There was one new membership voted in at the club meeting. Our newest members are Rick and Carol Krystof. Welcome to the Ahamo Archery Club.
January Banquet
We held our annual Banquet at Angies this year. If you missed it... a fun time was had by all. The Meal was great, visiting with club members and their spouses was fun, awards were given out, and new officers were elected.
Note the new officers as listed above. Dick Sousa is our new President, and all of the other offices will be manned by very capable members. Note also that a couple of our members are taking on multiple positions.
Thank you’s are in order for our outgoing board members for their support of our club. Bill Rhoades was thanked for all of his support as the 2003 President, and Dave Wise for being our club Secretary since 1998.
I would also like to give a special thanks to the members that served as board members last year and will continue in 2004. Thank you Dave Holthouse for all of your support as Treasurer for the past several years and again for 2004. Thank you Bill Lewis for your service as the club vice president. Thank you Chuck Vincent for all of your help with our 3D shoots last year and for taking on the position as 3D coordinator in 2004. Thank you John Terfone for all of your support at our outdoor shoots, for being the indoor Vice President last year and for being our indoor Vice President and Sergeant at Arms this year. Ed and Steve, thanks for being our Trustees again this year. Also a final thanks to Dick Sousa for being our Sergeant at Arms last year, for coordinating the calling committee, and for being elected Club President for 2004.
2003 Club Awards
Several awards were given out at the banquet for service to the club or hunting success.
The outstanding club member award for 2003 was presented to John Terfone. This award is given to the club member that did the most throughout the year to support the club and the sport of Archery. John helped at all of our 3D shoots, coordinated the food sales at shoots, and cooked and sold most of the food sold. John also coordinated our indoor 300 round shoots and helped at our indoor 3D shoots. The Outstanding member award for 2003 was well deserved. Thank you John for your support of the Ahamo Archery Club in 2003.
We also gave out certificates of appreciation to members that the board felt went above and beyond in their support of the club in 2003. These certificates were given to Chuck Vincent, Mike Vandeman, Greg Thomas, Bill Lewis, John and Jimmy Terfone, Ed Rebarich, Steve Williamson, Dave Holthouse, Steve Murphy, Tom Saunders, Dave Wise, Lee Pereksta, Dick Glaseman, and Dick Sousa. Since Bill Rhoades filled out the certificates and did not fill one out for himself, I want to point out that Bill did deserve one for his support of the club in 2003.
Work Party support awards were given out to 5 of our members. For these awards, members names are added to the drawing once for 12 hours and once for every 4 hours after that. Thirty dollars is given to each of those drawn. winners of the work party awards were Dick Sousa, Chuck Vincent, Dave Holthouse, Jimmy Terfone, and Mike Vandeman.
Finally, there is the Deer and game harvest awards. A plaque is given for members harvesting a deer the first time as an Ahamo member, and plates to add to the plaque for each deer, turkey, or other game each year after that. In addition there is the big buck award given to the hunter that harvests the deer with the largest rack.
Big Buck Award
This year the big buck award went to Dick Sousa. Dick harvested a buck with an impressive Pope and Young score of 144 5/8. Congratulations Dick, and nice going for winning this award for the 3rd time. Dick also won this award in 1998 and 1999. As a final note, Dick was also in second place this year with a buck scoring 144 3/8. What a great season.

Dues Renewal time
The lock on the indoor range has been changed. If you have not yet paid your dues, you need to do so to get a new key. If you will not be renewing your dues, please turn in your key, as we save them to re-tool for future years.
The club policy is to call the dues delinquent after the March meeting and require the payment of the $10 initiation fee as well as the annual fee for anyone that was a member the previous year. If you will be rejoining, the sooner you rejoin the better.
Contact Dave Holthouse with any questions on dues, or be at the February meeting with your payment or your questions.
3D Shoots
The list of 3D shoots planned for 2004 has grown slightly.
Indoor 3D shoots are planned for: January 10,11 Jan 25 Feb 15 March 13,14 (this shoot will be in Wahoo Nebraska) Outdoor 3D shoots are planned for: May 16 June 14 August 1 August 28-29Please add these shoots to your 2004 calendar. The indoor workparties at the indoor range will all be held at 3:00 on the Saturday before each shoot. Clean up will be at about 1:30 or 2:00 on the Sundays of the shoots.
The Wahoo workparty and schedule will be discussed later in the newsletter.
The Outdoor shoot workparty schedule will be discussed at the Club Meetings held 1 or 2 months prior to those shoots.
March Wahoo Shoot
The January 5 Club meeting was held and scheduled mainly to discuss what we need to do to prepare for the March indoor 3D shoot in Wahoo Nebraska.
The shoot will be held March 13 and 14. We will not be able to get into the site until Thursday, so a lot of help will be needed to set things up on Thursday and Friday.
Bill Lewis went through a list of what is needed. Some of those items include:
200-300 small trees (we have a site to cut them already) 96 shooting steaks 10-15 bow racks 2 to 3 foot rebar for the trees tables and chairs all of our excelsior bails plywood to place around the range Targets and rebar to set them up a lot of help AwardsIn addition, Canfields has offered $1,000 to help pay for awards if they include the Canfields name on them, they will mail information to all of their preferred customers about the shoot, and will advertise the shoot in the paper.
To prepare for the shoot, we will hold status meetings every other week up to the shoot. The next meeting will be January 19 at 7:00 at the indoor range. The Wahoo committee will run the meetings, and all members are encouraged to attend. So far there are several members that have volunteered to support with the work ahead. We have volunteers for trailers and trucks, volunteers to cut rebar, volunteers to cut trees, volunteers to make shooting steaks, and volunteers to haul ply wood. Everything seems to be coming together, so lets all plan on pitching in where needed to make this a successful shoot.
Members are encouraged to talk up the shoot when at other shoots, solicit door prizes from any store or organization they have a contact with, and attend the meetings held to review status and plan the shoot.
As a final note, our club treasurery is at the lowest level it has been for several years, and this shoot is very much needed to keep the club going strong in 2004. Please plan on helping where needed to make this a successful shoot.

Outdoor Sportsman’s Show:
Bill Lewis discussed the outdoor sportsman's show at the January Meeting. The show will be January 16,17, and 18. There are a couple of local clubs that will be manning an archery booth, and Ahamo will be one of them. We will be able to hand out club information, membership forms, our shooting schedule, and information on the Wahoo shoot. We will be paying $100 for our part of that booth.
John Terfone volunteered to man the booth on Saturday, and Aaren Pererson will try and be there on Friday. We still need help, so if you can be there for part of any of those days, please contact Bill Lewis. Note that Bill said Dave Hauge of Golden Arrow is coordinating the booth, and you can call him with any questions you may have. Dave’s number is 571-3008
