Happy New Year
2001 Club Banquet
The 2001 annual banquet was held at Mr. C’s. It was a lot of fun, many stories of the past year were shared and Bill Rhoades helped to keep the business part of the banquet short. About 38 members attended and enjoyed each others company.
New Members
Four new members were voted in at the banquet; Ray & Verna Voycheske, Wes Voycheske, Richie & Beth Voycheske, and Jim Johnson. Welcome to the Ahamo Archery Club.
Winter Games
Ahamo is running the 3D part of the Winter Games again this year. The shoot will be on February 3 and 4. Help will be needed to set it up on Friday Feb. 2. Jot this down on your calendar now, Feb 2, starting at 6:00 at the indoor range - please come out and help.
If you want to shoot in the games, pre-registration is required. Your registration must be postmarked by January 24th. Registration forms can be found in special state games books that can be picked up at sports stores. A number of the books are at the indoor range.

Ahamo Officers for 2001
Jim Chandler is our new President for 2001. It looks like a promising year as we move forward with a lot of fresh ideas from Jim and also from our new 3D committee. This year Tom Riddle and Jim Chandler will be coordinating our shoots. The rest of the officers remained the same for 2001 and are listed in the beginning of the newsletter.
Thank you to all of the officers that supported our club last year. It takes a lot of effort to keep our club going throughout the year and everyone did an admirable job.

Dave Wise reported that he was in the process of sending letters of appreciation to the stores that supported Ahamo in 2000 as well as to the YMCA for letting us use their land for our outside shoots. The stores to be thanked include Bluffs Archery, Full Draw Archery, Tackle Box, and Woods and Waters. Please support the stores that supported our club.
Letter From Game and Parks
To: Eastern Nebraska Archery Clubs
From: Jeff Rawlinson, Shooting Range Coordinator, Dave Hauge, Master Hunter Education Instructor
Date: December 20, 2000
Subject: Meeting for Lake Wanahoo Range Project
On Behalf of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission I would like to invite your clubs to a meeting to be held on Saturday, February 10th at 9:00am at the Lower Platte North Natural Resource District office located just north of Wahoo on HWY 77. We will discuss the prospects of the new Outdoor Education Complex including a large-scale archery range and 3-D course to be built on the property. This will include youth mentoring opportunities, walk through courses, sight-in ranges, and much more (your input needed).
Butch Isom, Assistant Director, will also address our new big game permits system. This will radically change the way deer permits are issued across the state! With the use of on-line Technology, Nebraska leads the nation in permits distribution technique. This new system will continue in that tradition.
We are seeking to gain organized support for this ground-breaking project. We want to put a plan together that best suits the needs of the archers in this area. Your help, design plans, concerns, coordination and organization will insure this project, the only one of its kind to date, will succeed.
Please RSVP with either Dave Hauge or myself on or before January 25th. In order for this to succeed, we need your support. Only an organized archery community will bring a project of this magnitude to completion!
Jeff Rawlinson.
Jeff can be contacted at the Aksarben Aquarium (332-3901) Dave’s number is 571-3008
Commentary:
It appears that there is some opposition to the project, possibly from local residents that would be close to the project, and some from anti-hunters. Bill Lewis stated that a number of letters objecting to the project have been received. It would be very beneficial if letters in favor of the project were received by the Game and Parks Commission. If you would like to write something in favor of the project, please address your letter to
Mike Murren PO Box 126 Wahoo, NE 68066-0126You can also go through the NRD web page at Lpnnrd.nrc.state.ne.us to send an email to Mike Murren. Or just send it to Mike at Murren@Linux3.nrc.state.ne.us. The NRD page looks interesting enough that I may add a link to it from our web page.
2001 Dues
As of now, there are no plans to change the dues structure for 2001, or the workparty requirements. We would like everyone to put in at least 12 hours to support your club throughout the year, and will be following the workparty team structure we had last year. The team concept seemed to work pretty good and we will be restructuring the teams probably in March.
Your dues are due in January, and delinquent in March. After March, members will be assessed the $10.00 initiation fee to rejoin. Any members from last year that rejoin in 2001, will need to pay the entire year’s dues. At only $96.00 for unlimited use of an indoor range, we feel membership in our club is a bargain.
The locks have been changed at the indoor range and you will need to pay your dues to get a new key. Please contact Dave Holthouse at 291-0211 if you have any questions on paying your dues.
If you are not rejoining, please turn in your old key to a club officer.

If you are a club member and have an item for sale, please send me the information and I’ll put it in the newsletter. I also welcome newsletter articles. My Email address is: hunterlee@msn.com
