JOAD Children's League

Some of our members have recently asked about when we will be starting our JOAD league for children. Current plans are to start it in the middle of April and hold the league for six weeks until the end of May. The dates and times will be in the April newsletter.

3D Committee news

The 3D held in January was a success. Planned shoots through March are as follows:

Feb 8, 9 (State Winter Games)
        Feb 22,23
        Mar 8,9
        Mar 22,23

Workparties will be held on the Friday before each shoot at 7:00 P.M. and Sunday at about 3:30 when the shoots are finished. If you have any questions or want to register for a shooting line, call Roy Canterbury at 592-1398, or Bill Lewis at 498-9364.

State Winter Games

The State Winter Games will be on February 8 and 9, you must be pre-registered to shoot. If you have not yet registered it's too late. If you would like to help with the shoot please call Bill Rohades (553-4255). Bill will need people to help run the lines and check people in all day Saturday and Sunday. Any time you can spend at the range helping out will be greatly appreciated - and it counts as work party time.

Christmas Trees Wanted

We could use some more Christmas trees at the indoor range for our 3D shoots. If anyone has an artificial tree they would like to donate, please drop it off at the indoor range. If you need someone to pick it up, give Rich Chandler a call (291-7943) and he will arrange for someone to pick it up - Thanks.

Outdoor Range Still Needed

Ed has visited one possible location for an outdoor range that was a little too small, and has another one to check out yet. If anyone knows of a possible location, or even knows someone that knows someone that has a place, please call Ed or Mike Stanner (their phone numbers are on the first page of the newsletter).

February Target Tournament

The February Target Tournament was a large success. we had sixty shooters and it ran so well, we expect to grow to 80 at our next shoot. Thanks to Don Pulsifer for stepping forward to run the shoot, and to Patti Pulsifer for organizing the registration, and to Jackie Secord and Paige Permenter for helping out with registration and the food. Thanks also to those that helped with the shooting lines throughout the day.

Indoor Tournament Committee Formed

An indoor committee has been formed to run our remaining indoor tournaments for 1997. Don Pulsifer will be the Chairman; and Bill Rhoades, Steve Murphy, and Harry Thompson will help organize and run the shoots.

State Meeting

Bill Arledge is planning to attend the State Indoor tournament in Kearney and volunteered to act as our club's representative at the state meeting. If anyone else is going and would like to be a club representative, please call Mike Stanner.

1996 Hunting Results

In the last newsletter I left out one member that had shoot a deer . My apologies to Harry Simpson. Harry, I think you told me you shot a doe. If I'm wrong let me know and I'll add your name in larger print in the next newsletter. Congratulations on a successful hunting season.

If anyone else did not get mentioned in the last newsletter for shooting a deer please call me so I can recognize you in next month's newsletter. Also, if anyone should have received a deer award and did not, please call Ed Rebarich.

The Nebraska Traditional Archers Association attended the last board meeting to ask if they could use our range and 3D targets for a tournament for traditional archers only. The board discussed their request and may be allowing them to hold their shoot. If we reach an agreement on dates and money; we will be receiving a certain percent of their registration, and have a good chance for picking up some new members.

The Ahamo Web Page is now a reality. If you have access to a computer, check out our sight at HTTP://WWW.Sportsmansweb.com/Ahamo_Archery/ The web sight became active the last week of January, and we already received an application for membership over the Internet.

Indoor Leagues

The Tuesday night League just finished this week. The league winners are:

First place: Scott Bailey
Steve Murphy
Second place: Bill Rhoades
Kit Secord
Third place: Mike Stanner
Harry Thompson
Congratulations to the league winners.

A new Indoor League will be starting next Tuesday (February 11) at 7:00. Leagues are an excellent opportunity to see what types of equipment others are shooting, get some tips on shooting, and meet other club members. Leagues are also a good way to keep in practice for the next hunting season. If you just want to see what goes on at an Archery league, stop down to see what they're like. We also welcome drop ins to shoot if there's room on the line. Members and non-members are welcome to shoot on our leagues (with non-members paying a dollar extra).
