February Club Meeting
There were 19 members at the February meeting. The meeting was brief, as we covered club business quickly so we could have a second meeting to go over the Wahoo Shoot. We voted in new members, made some changes to our membership policy, and moved on to the Wahoo meeting.
New members:
There were five new memberships voted in at the club meeting, Marty and Jolie Edwards and family, Robert Michler, Steve and Pola Ellis, Justin and Kristal Picolet, and Bill and Phyllis Arledge. Welcome all to the Ahamo Archery Club.
Presidents Corner:
by Rick Krystof:
Greetings!
Hopefully some of you have noticed that things at the indoor range are changing. We're doing some RIP ( Range Improvement Program). We have one new bow holder thanks to Steve Williamson. Also, some cleanup and housekeeping has taken place.
Our indoor range belongs to ALL of us and it's up to ALL of us to keep it clean. So please, don't leave pop cans, water bottles, candy & gum wrappers, etc. lying around, throw them out. We need to make our indoor range profitable and the first step to doing that is to enhance it's image.
Our Tuesday Night league now has 7 full teams and we still have room for one or more shooters. We start at 7:00 PM - Join Us, we need to give Ed.R. and Kit.S more competition!
Our indoor "Poker-Run" Spot tournament dates for this Fall are set. We hope to have some of you compete and if possible help out. An easy way to satisfy those "work hours" and who knows, you may even enjoy yourself! Remember 1st prize=$100.00, 2nd prize=$75.00, and 3rd prize=$50.00 GUARANTEED!
The Wahoo Indoor plans are progressing nicely thanks to the efforts of some very unselfish members. We will need the help from ALL to make the 2005 event more successful than last year!If you are interested in lending a hand, please contact any of the board members.
Again, to those who help out in any shape, form, or manner, your help is appreciated! As always, your comments and suggestions are welcome!
Membership Policy Change:
We made some changes to our membership policy at the last club meeting. First, we now have an associate membership available. The dues are $25 per year. For that, associate members will not get a key, will receive the newsletter and will be allowed to shoot at the range only with a full dues paying member with them.
We also now have a service members membership with dues of $75. We discussed this for a while and thought this would be a good thing to do, especially with all that is going on in the world today.
Wahoo Shoot News:
A lot has been going on regarding the Wahoo Shoot. This is our club’s largest shoot of the year and we really need the help of all members. Note the dates of the shoot and help that is needed. All members are needed to make this shoot a success. Please volunteer to help where you can, and be at as many work parties as you can.
Some of the activities that have taken place so far: Canfields has donated enough money to cover all awards and some of the door prizes (they deserve many thanks - please frequent their store), Cabelas has donated enough money to pay for 3D targets for the pop-ups (we will be calling it the Cabelas pop-up shoot), Bow Tech sold us a $750 bow for $250 to use for a raffle, and the Wahoo Chamber of commerce has given us $500 to cover advertising. We also have quite a few donated door prizes. Members have done so much to date that there is not enough room in the newsletter to thank everyone.
Wahoo Shoot Food Committee:
The food committee has things pretty much under control. Several Club member’s wives have been meeting at the same time as the Wahoo meetings to plan. I think they have enough help getting everything together and to run the food for the shoot. The one thing that is still needed are desert items for the shoot - and we can use all we can get. To keep track of what will be brought for the shoot and to make sure we don’t get too much of one thing, Akiye Rebarch is keeping track of what will be brought.
Please help us out by baking and/or bringing desert items to the shoot. call Akiye Rebarch at 345-7608 to let her know what you will be bringing. It is pretty important that we have enough desert items for both days, so please help with this. You can also Send Akiye an email to let her know what you will be bringing; her email is ARebar@cs.com.
Wahoo Shoot Registration:
Like last year, I will be running registration again for the Wahoo Shoot and am looking for help. If you can help - I could really use it. Like last year, I will have everything ready and set up and will have cheat sheets to help if there are questions. There will also be enough help with each line, that you can ask questions any time while working registration.
I need 3 to 4 people for each line. One will collect money and assign targets (from a target assignment worksheet); two will check registration sheets, circle the division and write the name on the score cards; and one will handle pre-registration. I will be there all day each day and will be working one of the positions also.
Registration is the first contact many of the archers will have with our club - so it is important that all positions be manned and that the registration process go smoothly. If you can help, please let me know when you can be available - and if you can help with more than one time slot. Call me at 592-3856 or send me an email (hunterlee@msn.com).
Based on the lines... I need help: Saturday the 12th: 7:30 - 9:00 am 12:00 - 2:00 pm 3:30 - 5:30 pm Sunday the 13th: 6:30 - 8:00 am 11:00 - 1:00 pm 2:30 - 4:00 pmThe 2:30 slot will be to help collect the final set of score cards, verify they are filled out correctly, and sort them.
If you volunteer, please be there early, and be prepared to stay a few minutes late if people are registering right up to their shooting time.
Line Judges:
We also need line judges for each line. All line judges will get to wear fancy orange vests and hats provided by Canfields (please return them after each line).
Line judges are extremely important to the overall flow of the shoot once the lines start. If you volunteer for this position, please be prepared to be alert to do all you can to help the shoot run smoothly. You will need to step in front of the archers before the whistle sounds to be sure no one shoots early when someone might be down range, and to be alert as archers finish shooting to signal the tower that the whistle to pull arrows can be blown.
If you can help with line judging, please call or email Steve Murphy. Steve’s number is : 291-7554; his email is (elkmaster@aol.com)
We need line judges: Saturday the 12th: 8:45 - 12:00 pm 1:45 - 5:00 pm 5:15 - 8 pm Sunday the 13th: 7:45 - 11:00 am 12:45 - 3:30 pmThe starting times are firm, but the ending times approximate, depending on when the lines finish.
Work Parties:
Watch for more dates and times... but what is known so far, there will be the following work-parties:
Saturday March 5: Workparty to cut trees and take them to Wahoo - probably at 2 Rivers.
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday March 9,10,11: Workparties to set up the range at Wahoo.
Saturday and Sunday March 12,13: help needed all day at Wahoo.
Sunday March 13: a lot of help needed to tear down. Starting at about 3:30.

Next 3D Shoot:
Our next 3D will be on Sunday February 13. The work party to set up will be on Saturday at 2:00. We had plenty of help for our last shoot, and will need it again for this one. Please come down on Saturday. Note that registration will be Sunday from 8 to noon, and tear down will start at about 1:30.
