February Club Meeting
There were 13 members at the February meeting. We discussed the Sportsmans show, the upcoming February 15 shoot, the March shoot in Wahoo, Club shirts and a lot more. We also voted in one new member.
New members:
One new membership was voted in at the club meeting. Our newest members are Dallas and Colleen Crowder. Welcome to the Ahamo Archery Club.
Wahoo Shoot
Note that our club finances are at an all time low. Our heating bills have been high, we just purchased a set of replacement 3D animals and parts, and we seem to be just squeaking by. The Wahoo shoot is coming just at the right time. If we get a good turn out, our treasurery will increase to a safe margin, and we may even pick up a new member or two.
We do need the support of our working members to make the shoot a success. If you come down to the range on almost any Monday, you will see a committee of members holding a meeting to discuss what has been done so far, what remains to be done, and brainstorming ideas. It’s actually a lot of fun. Bill Lewis is doing a great job going over his list of what needs to be done, Ed Rebarich is going over his list and pointing out to the rest of the committee what they have volunteered to do, Dick Sousa is doing a great job chairing the meetings, John Terfone is busy volunteering to do almost everything under the sun, Steve Williamson is just full of ideas and has built enough bow racks for the entire shoot, Chuck Vincent is volunteering and making suggestions, and Dave Holthouse, Jimmy Terfone, Steve Murphy, Dick Glaseman, and Lee Pereksta are at most of the meetings pitching in. If I forgot to mention anyone, it was very unintentional.
Note that while this group has been very active, we’re going to need a lot more help. We need line judges, food workers, registration support, and a lot of help setting up and tearing down. We also need as many members as possible to spread the word to other archers about our shoot, and to just be there - to shoot or to work.
Five of us went to Wahoo this past weekend to check out the site and do some planning. What we found is a large building with a fenced in coral that we will be using for the shoot. The building will be heated for the shoot, and there seems to be plenty of space to set up our targets. There was some lengthy discussion of how to set it up, and we think we’ve got it down. What we really need now is help from our members. I’ve probably said enough for now. Dick Sousa added a page to the newsletter on the shoot that I think is very well written.
Next 3D shoot
Our next 3D shoot is February 15. Setup is on the 14th at 3:00 and tear down will be sometime after 1:00 on Sunday.
Help if you can, but more importantly, come on down and shoot. This will be the last indoor shoot at our range this spring. The next shoot is the Wahoo indoor shoot.
Dues Renewal time
If you have not yet paid your dues, please plan on doing so by the March meeting. After that meeting your dues become delinquent and you will need to pay the $10.00 initiation fee again. Note that our dues are prorated the first year you join. Members that fail to join until later the next year must still pay a full year’s dues. This is to keep people from just joining for the last few months of the year to practice before hunting season. At $96.00 per year (working membership), with unlimited use of the range, our dues are a bargain. I probably don’t use it as much as I’d like, but it is really nice to be able to go down and practice, use the bow press, and talk with members whenever I want to. Two years ago when I broke my string the night before going hunting, it was great being able to go down to the range and reset sights at the last minute.
If you have any questions on your dues, please contact Dave Holthouse.

For Sale:
Here’s a bargain from John Terfone:
John is selling a 2000 PSE G-Force that is ready to shoot for only $250.00. The bow is set at a 28 inch draw, is 60-70 lbs. and includes a Kwikee quiver. Call John at 402 738-1692.
Club Shirts:
If you would like a club shirt, you might want to be at the next club meeting. We have been talking about getting an order together for some new shirts. Steve Williamson found some relatively inexpensive heavy weight t-shirts and we found someone to add our club logo to them.
All Members:
As a reminder, Ahamo will be hosting an indoor 3-D shoot at the fairgrounds in Wahoo Nebraska on the weekend of March 13th and 14th. This shoot will be somewhat similar to the Columbus Nebraska annual shoot and has the potential to draw in several hundred shooters. A committee of club members was formed several months ago to look into putting the shoot together. After much time and energy they have developed a plan that will make the shoot work. But it will require some help from all club members.
The greatest hurdle in putting the shoot on is getting all the needed equipment to and from Wahoo. If enough people volunteer some time this won’t be a problem.
The following is a list of scheduled events and some areas where help is needed.
- Wednesday March 10th thru Friday the 12th -- loading trucks and hauling equipment and targets from the indoor range to Wahoo. We will meet at the indoor range at 6:00 pm - Friday March 12th -- load and haul remaining equipment to Wahoo -- set up course This will be done throughout the day. - Saturday March 13th -- help with registration -- help with line officials -- help with food concessions – wives have volunteered - Sunday March 14th -- help with registration -- help with line officials -- help with food concessions – wives have volunteered -- tear down and transport back to Omaha (must be done immediately after shoot). - Monday March 15th -- unload equipment and put away (indoor range)Ahamo has never attempted a project of this magnitude and in order to pull it off, maximum participation is needed. Any amount of time you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
You may contact any of the listed members to sign up to help.
