April Club Meeting
The April meeting was attended by 15 members. We discussed the Upcoming FAST shoot, fund raisers for FAST and also for the club, purchasing spot shoot prizes for our shoots, and work party teams.
New Members
There were three new members voted in at the club meeting. John Holmes, Tim Koziel, and Dave Latner are our newest club members. Welcome to the Ahamo Archery Club.
May 5,6 Neola Shoot
Ahamo is one of four clubs that are supporting the May 5 and 6 Neola shoot. This shoot is an IBO Cooperative shoot. Ahamo will be donating 10 targets to this shoot, which we will get back after the shoot. Profits from this shoot will be split between the participating clubs, with part of the profits being donated to the park in Iowa where the shoot is being held, and also to the bowhunter defense fund. If you would like to sponsor a target, Mike Vandeman has target sponsorship forms you can pick up from him.
Ahamo will be responsible for setting up 10 of the targets and support in working the shoot for the weekend. Contact Bill Lewis or Mike Vandeman if you have any questions on how you can help with the shoot.

3D News
Our Club’s next 3D shoot will be on May 20th. Set up will be at 8:00 AM on the 19th. Please come out and help set up the targets. Don’t forget that we also need help on the 20th to take down the targets. We usually start taking them down at about 12:30.
Registration for our 3D shoots is from 8:00 AM until 12:00 noon. Note that we decided to have a new Bowhunter division this year, for fixed pin sights, and short stabilizers, with a maximum of 35 yards.
Nebraska State Archery Association
The Nebraska State organization has changed its name from Nebraska Prairie Bowmen to the Nebraska State Archery Association. Other changes include new officers as of the annual spring meeting, and a new President. Bill Lewis is now the President of the association - Congratulations Bill. Another change is a decision to allow membership in the State association without joining the NFAA. For $25.00 you can join the state association and shoot in State sanctioned shoots. However, you cannot shoot in sectional and national NFAA tournaments or receive the NFAA magazine without joining the National association (NFAA). Discuss this with Bill if you have questions.
NorthEast Nebr Archery Club
I received a request through our Web Page information request section from a club in North East Nebraska to print their club 3D dates in our newsletter and Web Page. The club is the NorthEast Nebraska Archery Club and it is located 3 miles East of Hartington on Hwy 84 and then 1/4 mile south.
The dates of their shoots are April 29, July 8, and August 19. Registration is from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

A Special Thank You
Jim Chandler asked me to add a special thank you in the newsletter to all of the club members that helped set up for the April 8 3D shoot. Jim said the turn out was great, and that everyone worked well together to set up the range in a very short amount of time.
A special thank you also to Jack White for the use of his stock trailer to haul the targets, and also for the use of his 4 wheeler. Thank you also to Dave Holthouse for using your 4 wheeler to haul targets. Having two 4 wheelers on hand saved a lot of sore backs.
Jim also asked that I add a special thanks to Mike Vandeman for his expertise in helping to coordinate the work party.

FAST – Future of Archery Sports Team
The FAST Tournament is fast approaching. A number of members signed up to help and there may be room for more. Contact Bill if you are interested.
A big part of the shoot is the fund raising prior to the shoot. FAST has a web page you can visit at WWW.fastarchery.org. There is quite a bit of information out there about the organization and the benefits the provide the communities they hold their tournaments in. Here is some of the information found on their web site:
The Future of Archery Sports Team's mission is to educate, entertain, and provide support of archers throughout the industry. The F.A.S.T. organization is the Archery Dream Team introducing long-awaited programs directing money raised in competitions back into the sport, the competitors, and into the communities supporting them.
The Future of Archery Sports Team (FAST) is a non-profit educational scholarship fund. FAST provides youngsters with educational alternatives. We do this by funding scholarships to approved summer camps selected in coordination by parents of children receiving these awards. The Future of Archery Sports Team utilizes their preservation and joy of archery as their venue to help fund and provide these scholarships in hopes of giving children an alternative learning experience placing children in positive, encouraging, and educational environments.
The Future of Archery Sports Team scholarships are lottery drawn without regard to race, finance, religion or national origin. All recipients are placed in lottery by parents, friends and family. Scholarships for summer camps cover full tuition cost and for incurred travel expenses. In brief, The Future of Archery Sports Team gives many including the less fortunate children a chance and hope for the future.
Bill Lewis provided the following information:
The FAST Tournament is a cooperative shoot. Seven Archery clubs have signed up to work the shoot and support in the fund raising. The fund raising includes raffle tickets and FAST novelty item sales (mugs, shirts, hats, etc.).
There are 2 raffles being held. One has prizes that includes a 4-wheeler, bow, arrows, and other items. These tickers sell for $5.00 each, or 5 for $20.00.
The other raffle is for a house. There will be 5,000 tickets sold at $100.00 each. The house will be built in New Mexico and will have a value well over $100,000. If the winner elects to, he can receive $100,000 instead of the house. For every 10 tickets sold, you will get one free. We will also get $20.00 for every ticket sold. We need to sell 1,000 of the $5.00 tickets to guarantee us a 20 target course from the tournament.
All food proceeds go to the clubs helping put on the shoot. We can also set up a 20 target practice course and keep all of the proceeds (archers will be sold a pass to the practice range for $15.00).
There will be a limit of 100 people that will be working the tournament. There will be added incentives for the workers based on the amount of money raised. If a lot of money is raised, the incentives could include a drawing for trucks and 4-wheelers.
The supporting clubs will receive part of the profits, and one of the 20 target courses.
Set up will be on June 6 and 7, the shoot will be on June 8,9, and 10. Contact Bill Lewis if you would like to help. Jim Chandler has our raffle tickets and Woods and Waters has a lot of FAST merchandise on display that can be purchased.
Workparty teams for 2001
The workparty team concept for 2001 will be similar what it was in 2000. All members will be asked to help with the first shoot (April 8), and workparty teams will work every other shoot in 2001. Thank you’s go out to Dick Sousa and Rich Chandler for volunteering to be the team leaders for the work party teams.
