The workparty on the 8th will start at 8:00. On Sunday registration starts at 7:00 and goes to noon. The outdoor range is located at the YMCA camp at 245th and Q Street. Archery Director Wanted
The Mid-America Council, Boy Scouts of America, puts on an annual camping program for older boys in the Cub Scout program. This Webols Camp provides 3 days and 2 nights of camping to 4th and 5th grade boys in Cub Scouting. Two sessions of camp are offered, from June 4th through July 8th, with time off for the 4th of July weekend.
An Archery director is needed to teach archery safety and skills to campers. This is a paid position, and is offered for someone 18 years old or older, proficient with the bow and arrow. Flex-time will be considered for this position. The schedule is currently planned for Monday/Tuesday, and Friday/Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Room and board is provided.
The Camp is in Cedar Bluffs, near Freemont - about 40 minutes from Omaha. Contact Jeanne Miller, Weblos Camp Director at 493-5468, or e-mail JeanneNO@aol.com.
Bowhunter Ed-Mentor Support
Mike Streeter (332-5487) is looking for volunteers to help young bowhunters get ready for hunting season. He needs experienced archers to volunteer to inspect equipment and check shooting skills. Before young archers are permitted to hunt with Bowhunter Education instructors, they need to have their equipment checked for safety and their shooting skills tested. If you would like to help with that, give Mike Streeter a call.
Outdoor American Round League
Ahamo will hold an Outdoor American Round League at Mike Stanner’s house beginning Tuesday April 25. If you would like to join this league, be at Mike’s house at about 6:30 on that Tuesday.
Mike’s address is: 11222 Kentucky Road in Papillion. His phone is 592-3308. Take Cedardale east, past 72nd to Kentucky Road and turn left.
The league is a good way to get in shape for the summer games. We shoot an American Round at 60, 50, and 40 yards. Come on out and shoot - it’s a lot of fun.
YMCA Camp needs help
The YMCA camp will be holding a clean up week end on April 29th and 30th. It’s called Camp Elkhorn Work Days and will be to paint, fix up camp items, clean trails, etc. If you would like to help just go on out. It will be from 8:00 to 5:00 each day. If you can help for all or part of a day, be sure to let the Y know that you are from the Ahamo Archery Club.
Club Indoor Championship
On Tuesday, April 11, we will hold the 3rd annual indoor club Championship. It is a fun night with no charge for shooting. Winners will be crowned for Men and Women, in Release, Fingers, and Bare-bow divisions only. Come on out to shoot in this fun event. Shooting starts at 7:00.
Official Scoring of Antlers
As far as I know, only Dick Sousa and Lee Pereksta had their 1999 antlers officially scored this year. Dick’s was officially scored at 144 3/8, and Lee’s was 125 7/8. If anyone else had theirs scored - please let me know and I’ll put it in the newsletter.
New Cart for 3D’s
The club purchased a cart to use for transporting targets at the outdoor range. The money came from last year’s Cabalas shoot funds. Thanks again to those that worked at that tournament. A special thanks also, to Dave Holthouse for bringing his 4 wheeler down to the last workparty so we could use the cart.
NFAA State Meeting
Bill Lewis attended the state meeting in Lincoln this past month. A couple of key items were discussed. One was plans to change the name for the State organization from the Nebraska Prairie Bowmen. This is to keep the name separate from the Lincoln Prairie Bowmen. The new name hasn’t been determined yet.
Another key item discussed was the National organization’s decision that the NFAA will no longer recognize Olympic Style divisions.
